Are you trying to say 27 is not young for an edge player? He's just coming into his prime

we need our top 5 NFL edge player
We don't have a top 5 NFL Edge Player, though.
Garrett
Anderson
Crosby
Watt
Bosa
Not even counting: Parsons, Hutchinson, Hunter, Rousseau, etc.
He may be top 20, though.

Coming into prime and young are 2 completely different phases

Show your work. 2nd in the NFL in sacks, 10th in pressures.

If the ranking was just pass-rushing he'd definitely be top 10, possibly top-5 for sure.
His run D is still pretty bad, and that counts when grading edges.
People are going to melt because I'm not saying he's at the top of the elite category when I'm saying he's very good
There's nothing wrong with very good

Young is the 11th ranked DE per pff.
Bosa is 2 years older and hasn’t been elite since 2023

The entire point of the draft is to find a Chase Young.
we've gotten 3 years out of him for very good value.
Chase is a bit unique cause he'll be seeking his huge pay day contract at a later age than some of the counterparts cause of his late start to his career.
40 million a yr commitment is not something to be taken lightly. Again, it also wouldn't be realistic for Chase not to raise hell this offseason about not getting an extension now heading into his last year of his deal.

It would be a no brainer to pay him $40mm with the market so I don't think he'll have to raise hell. That's preferable to waiting and paying over $50mm as that's the old high water mark

Yea the other thing is this isn’t a decision that has to be made now. Reevaluate things this time next year.

I can't wait to see what back up waterboy Loomis would pick with the picks he would get in that deal.

i have no issues with someone expressing this opinion. That's fine. But we are a team still trying to find a way out of our last bit of cap hell moving on from all the dead monies and old asses clogging up our financials right now!

that's not correct.
he's not playing on the expiring deal imo with his huge pay day on the line and he's going to lose his 90 million future guaranteed deal if he gets hurt next yr.

also, his trade value takes a substantial hit if we trade a chase young on a last expiring yr. His trade market is now or we get nickels next yr.

If you truly think we get a 1st plus then sure (if we have a new FO). If it’s gonna be more of the same picking then I’d just extend and roll with the sure thing

Bosa is elite every year he plays.
He's not ranked ahead of Young only due to snaps. His PFF grade is 89.7 to Young's 81.3
No serious team would pay the same for Young that they'd pay for Bosa
Chase Young is closer to Joey Bosa's PFF grade than Nick Bosa's

You lock up Chase Young for the rest of his career in black and gold if he wants to stay. He's earned it.
If not, nothing less than 2 firsts for him.

A 3/100 this offseason would be fine. That's put him 9th in average salary

Right now you literally have 4 maybe 5 "franchise" building players.
Shough
Banks
Olave
Young
Arguably - McCoy (age being the factor)
You need more of those guys. Not less.
