@AdamSchefter: Bears announced an agreement with former Saints C Brian de la Puente on a 1-year deal.
I'm very happy the Saints did not retain his services.

They really like Saints lineman

Not at all concerned about this. A lot of people expected us to bring him back cheaply, and that was never going to happen. He thinks he's worth too much.
Looks like we're going with Lelito/a rookie. No prob. (Please sign Goodwin ... )

Could be payback for Kreutz or DLP could end up playing well once again under Kromer. Can't say I'm not glad to see him go. He was just as awful as Brown was during periods last season.

1 year tells me it's a prove it deal. Seems like if we wanted him we could have had him.
Definitely makes Goodwin the most likely route if we do add a vet, which is what I preferred anyway.

Yep. Payton and Loomis must be really high on Lelito and/or the Cs in this draft.

One of the Chicago Tribune writers is saying that he's going to be Garza's backup. Looks like not only did we not want him to start for us, no one in the NFL did.

One year deal at the vet minimum tells me he wasn't wanted that much by us or anybody else.
I'm sure Saints have a plan just don't know what it is. Rookie/Lelito, Goodwin/Rookie, we'll have to wait & see.

Yeah I just find it hard to see us going into the season with a rookie or 2nd year guard as the starting center without having a vet to fall back on. It's an extremely important position on our line, more so than the tackles.
I guess it could be a case of waiting until they see how the rookie and Lelito perform in OTAs before deciding if they need to bring someone in, but then you risk Goodwin not being available anymore.

I just realized the "payback for Kreutz" could have been misconstrued. I meant that giving the Bears DLP's 'talents' is OUR payback for being saddled with Kreutz's bum arse.

Thought that was an important part here.

As explained by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, de la Puente is expected to back up Roberto Garza in Chicago.

An average player who benefited from our two guards. Very replaceable.
