After acquiring extra draft capital by trading Sean Payton, the New Orleans Saints could be a player in the trade market for quarterbacks this offseason.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Saints were "buzzing" as a potential landing spot for Derek Carr among NFL scouts and executives in Alabama this week for the Senior Bowl.

Fowler noted some teams interested in Carr will look to rework his contract to facilitate a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carr's time with the Raiders has almost certainly come to an end, barring some last-minute reconciliation between the two sides. He was benched for the final two games of the regular season, in part because his 2023 salary would have become fully guaranteed if he suffered a serious injury.

He has a no trade clause. I would wait until he's cut and then try and sign him.

I'm interested in what type of compensation he would command. Last week, carr was expecting to be cut, but then this week, he said he wants to be traded... think the change of heart is strictly for saving face. The raiders are trading or cutting him no matter what, so I don't think the compensation will be that much.

Is it really buzzing as a legitimate rumor, or just a bunch of media people grasping at straws since the Saints now have a 1st and need a QB?

Of course, they throw out the unnamed sources "among NFL scouts and executives', just in case they are wrong.

I’m going to absolutely melt my arse off if they sign Carr, much less trade for him.

Always hard to tell. It certainly seems possible with carr and Allen's relationship. Who knows? Anyone got up-to-date betting odds on Carr's landing spot? All I can find is last week's

Ugh.

Maybe take Davenport (or someone like him) and include him in the trade. Maybe get a pick back from them. Saints are not going to match the offers he gets and the raiders may very well cut Carr.

I just hope picks are not sent to the raiders for Carr.

Carr fits the Sean Payton offense. But no way am I trading for him unless the contract gets reworked or the Raiders eat a lot of salary.,

We’d do better just signing baker mayfiekd or TB or whoever for a 3 million a year plus incentive contract to get our cap under control.

I read this morning that he refused to extend his injury guarantee clause deadline which is Feb 15. Basically the narrative is he wants to be cut, not traded, and can force that.

ETA: I see that it’s mentioned in the article. I was too quick with the trigger.

Thomas for Carr

No picks

Both teams can take the cap hits.

I hope we don't trade for him.

He'd benefit from the change of scenery and would be an improvement over the current roster of qbs easily.
