$10-15 per year won't even buy you another year of Jameis in this market...Carr's going to get $20-25 per, easily.

If we go after Carr we are truly retarded.

This. I get our FO wants to be aggressive at QB but we REALLY can’t afford to invest a lot of resources (draft picks + money) to someone who just had a career worst year

Thomas for Carr
No picks

Wow!
Imagine Devonte Adams and Michael Thomas on the same team. That’s a legit WR room.

If he signs with us I hope he comes with his own OC.

Looks like going to notch another one on my brown paper bag helmet if this goes through. At the rate this organization is making moves, I'm going to be out of space for memes.

I’m going to absolutely melt my arse off if they sign Carr, much less trade for him.
We’d be getting by far the best QB we have had since Drew Brees and that would make you “melt your arse off”? It’s one thing if they overpay for him, but for the right price, he’s a great option at this stage.

Bruh you're not winning shite with Carr as your QB. Who gives a shite if he's the best QB since Brees? Is that suppose to make anyone feel better? Saints QB room has been dog shite for decades. We were the meme of the NFL before Brees got here.
This at best gives you a temporary band-aid on a aging roster with tons of cap problems. He gives us nothing more. You need the absolute perfect fit for him to even be a decent QB in the NFL at OC and that's even debatable now since he's older. The pussy introvert OC you have on your sidelines sure as hell isn't going to get it done.

We need a qb until we can draft one. If he’ll take a reasonable salary, ie, 15mm like Jameis, it will work.
They aren’t going into the season playing some rookie 3rd round QB because skyscreaming saints fans want them to tank

Not winning will have more to do with Dennis Allen than it does Carr in that scenario. However, I am not proposing we trade for Carr either, I was simply responding to Damone’s hyperbolic reaction to the thread. I think we should tank and draft a QB in 2024 personally.

He's not going to take that money. There's no way that dude is going to take charity deal from the Saints considering how bad they are. He's probably on his final contract or close to it and he's going to want someone to pay him. There's plenty of desperate teams with better cap than the Saints.
He comes here the Saints will have to pay in which case it kicks the can down the road to add to problems we already have. You still have Dennis Allen as your HC, you still have the introvert at OC, you still have the moron FO, and you still have major cap problems.
At this point it's better to move ahead with what you got and seriously consider trading the roster for draft capital to potentially trade for a future draft franchise QB you can build a roster around. The only people who need to be on this roster right now is young great players who are cheap or any vet on Saints friendly deals. Guys like Lattimore/Kamara you need to entertain trade partners who are willing to renegotiate their contracts so the hit isn't as bad on the Saints.

Sounds like the FO doesn’t want to kick the can down the road anymore which is nice. Ideally we don’t mortgage our future given Carr’s salary and we suck enough to get a higher pick next year while also firing DA. Sorta goes against what Loomis has done for the last decade plus but a man can dream.

What are you basing this on, Thomas restructure?
Posted on 2/3/23 at 12:08 pm to ElRoos
A Carr move would be kicking the can down the road. He doesn't have the supporting cast here to succeed. He doesn't have the coaching/FO.
It would be a bad move and there's no doubt in my mind he'd bend us over because he's not stupid. He's not taking a charity deal on a team that's bad. Maybe if he thought we were SB contenders it's possible. Why sign a short term contract that's risky for himself with desperate bad teams that need QBs with cap?
You're going to pay for him if he comes to the Saints and knowing this FO, we're going to get bent over. The smart play right now is offload anyone you can on an aging roster for draft capital. You're going to find a moment where it gets even worse than what we have now so the smart play is not to delay it anymore, get draft capital, and start building right now. Not 2 years down the road from now, right now. You're just going to have to eat the shite sandwich until they navigate cap hell.
Load up on draft capital, say your goodbyes to your favorite players, have a bad season for more draft value, eat cap, then start the rebuild moving forward. Get aggressive in FA if you feel like you finally drafted your franchise QB.

He's not taking less than half of what is about to be guaranteed on his contract to come to New Orleans.

He has a no trade clause. I would wait until he's cut and then try and sign him.
Agree it was reported this morning if he is still on the roster by the 15th they owe him 40 million so his arse is gone. You'd be a dumbass to give up a pick from t him but we are talking about the saints
