We really should get involved in this. I know most here are against using draft capital for trades but we desperately need to upgrade that position if we want any chance to save this season.

The issue is the people that are usually up for a trade that will be on a 1 year rental. Or you find yourself in a situation where you have to give up draft capital and then still give them a sizeable bonus to extend them to justify the trade.

IMO, the only way a trade makes sense is if you are looking like a lock for the playoffs, and you need a guy to push you offer the edge to be a serious SB contender. You do not spend future draft capital, so you have a better chance at potentially making the playoffs; unless you are desperate to keep your job

That’s what we are doing and it’s not working and I doubt it will cost much. You can’t just throw this season away because the Saints currently have no chance of stopping any run game with the current personnel.

I did see where the colts traded Quinton Nelson to the Seahawks

if they're willing to trade him then I'm sure almost every other player on the team is available

Not a chance. We suck we should be trying to acquire more draft assets, not more vets over the hill.

We haven’t made the playoffs in 5+ years in a terrible division. Building through the draft is what we’ve been doing.

We’re doing it poorly. It’s the right thing to do, but we need someone competent to do it.

There is no evidence that this is the right and only way to do things. This is the fans who are out of touch way of thinking. Vets go for way too cheap in the NFL. Find deals like this and add them to your draft picks. Acquire additional draft capital by trading down and other means.

I have no problem with trading for good players at a discount.

That is what smart gms do.

Who knows if DeForest Buckner is still that. You have to look at age and contract.

I have always liked him as a player but don't know what his contract looks like.

He is 32 on an expiring deal with a base of 13 mil.

If we were 4-3, you could definitely justify that move. At 2-5, with the playoffs looking slim, you don’t want to trade a pick for a player on the other side of 30.

Yes, these are the deals that winning teams have the luxury of making

Can we figure out why Christen Miller can’t stay on the field?

Thr niners always make great trades.

I'd think about grabbing whoever is under lynch to run the saints.

Tariq Ahmad is supposedly a really smart guy and runs their personnel. They also have rj gillen. I'd start there.

Grover stewart would be the dt to trade for. His run defense is pretty solid. Buckner went for a 4th. Probably had other teams interested at a 5th.
