He better finish top three in that discussion.

Two firsts is a lot of draft capital for a small school wr conversion that doesn't make an immediate impact.

He didn’t say we gave up two 1sts. He said two firsts is a lot of draft capital for a small school... Two 1sts and a 5th were spent to pick him. That is two 1sts worth of draft capital.

He was getting drafted in the 1st round. More than likely in the top 15 regardless. Y'all acting like we reached and drafted a guy that was projected to go in the 2nd. He had a draft grade of 91 and projected 14th pick. The #2 ranked DE.

Draft capital or not he was going to cost a team a #1 regardless. So we gave up a 5th and a #1 to get him.

I'm not 100% sold on the player, but I don't think the Saints payed THAT big of a price to get him. It's a 5th and a 1st you expect to be a really low 1st (i.e. In the 30's) if next season goes as you expect

I am fine trading up. Had we traded up and somehow got Josh Rosen I would be excited. I just think he is so raw and you for a win now move.

Lets just hope he can transition from small school to NFL caliber talent and contribute to pressuring the QB. This ain't Clowney we are talking about here...and even he didn't live up to the hype initially.....and still has some ways to go

So you think a more win now move would be to trade up for a QB that won’t play for 2 years instead of a DE that will play now.

DROY is generally won by linebackers and corners. The last three were Bosa, Sheldon Richardson and Peppers...which goes to show how often DE's win.

Don't count on it. Hope for 5-7 sacks with progress in the future. He will likely be a 3rd down specialist unless he progresses faster.

This is when you become so infactuated with a player, that you lose the real perspective. I'm praying on a thick rug this works for the saints bc if it does not, it's a real problem for the future.

This is simply fkn baffling to me at this point. The amount of people saying this is utterly mind-blowing.

two first is a lot of draft capital. Nothing wrong with agreeing with that point. Saints are betting on the talent is worth the capital.

They invested 2 firsts in him. 2018 #14 and the 2019 pick.

What's baffling about that?

Just because someone else would draft him does not mean that the current first used to take him does not get counted. We spent a 1st and 5th for the opportunity to use another first to take him. The lost opportunity cost is 3 picks that could have been used otherwise. That is two 1sts and a 5th to get him. It is all semantics and a pointless debate anyhow. If Green Bay had drafted him and then we sent the two 1sts and the 5th to acquire, we would have “given up” two 1sts for him, but does that change anything?

I think the Vander Esch kid might get the DROY. I have a feeling Dallas defense is going to be in the field a lot

It technically is two firsts in draft capital and their lingo. The 1st one is a wash and doesn't matter .. We all know the trade I hope. Can we please put this stupid, petty argument to rest?
