Are we paying him as a backup? Anything less than Russell Wilson is a major failure for this organization. Winston will just keep us middle of the pack and shitty draft picks for years fo come. Might as well just tank a year and draft the future QB.

So then tank and draft a qb moron. Why would you want to just be average and get shitty draft picks.

They might not even be average. We will see. But I’m some level you have to be functional even if not really competitive. Both for mental and physical health you need a qb that can clear a certain threshold.

It’s a 1 year deal. I would think it’s worth a shot to see how he’d do. If he’s average or worse, you can shite the bed in ‘22 for a top pick. If he’s above average or better, it’s a win.

Also, go back and look at some of the rumors from Seattle. The discussions were about possibly trading Wilson this year or in the future. If Sea trades him this year Wilson’s cap hit goes from $32M to $39M. If they trade him next year his cap hit drops from $37M to $26M. The talks could have been to set the stage for ‘22, which may also be why it’s a 1 year deal w Winston

Maybe a change of venue and eye surgery will improve Winston

Think of it as Tannehill going from Miami to Tennessee. He greatly improved

Yes , Jamis threw 40 interceptions, but also threw 5000 yards

Hell the HOF Bret Favre threw 29 interceptions

I choose to see what he can do in a Payton offense , with Kamara behind him and our solid online, before I write off the season.

Wtf are you talking about? I don’t post anything that isn’t true. I just don’t have homer goggles on like most.

Wilson is probably not going anywhere this year. Seattle takes a huge hit to trade. It really makes no sense on their end at this moment.

For better or worse we will get to see what he brings to the table. If he sucks then just move on.

Honestly they will probably be better positioned to get Wilson next year if Winston bottoms out.

If a one year deal that could be as cheap as $5.5mil for a maybe starter, could be the back up is a pretty damn good deal. If he does earn the 12mil we would probably have a pretty damn good year.

The people on this board are so pathetic they could care less that Jameis is a bad QB and worse person. They are a sad lot. Live through football type.

To me, the short term deal tells me we are drafting a QB in this draft.

Jameis will be easy to dispose of if it doesn’t work out... and new qb takes over. If it does work out, great problem to have.

I agree I have a really hard time seeing him as the face of our franchise. Would much rather Taysom or Mac or even Fitzmagic.

With that said, the contract he signed is so great for the Saints that I’m willing to sit back and hope he proves me wrong.

Welcome to bizzaro world. Like I said in that other thread - drink lots of booze and prepare for 7-9. The fan base will only reevaluate when we finish 4th in the NFC South.

Throwing the ball downfield is fine so long as we have someone who can go and catch it. Is MT good enough to break double coverage and come down with it? Who in the hell else do we have that’s a solid #2 guy? Harris has wheels but has he proven he can fight off tight coverage and get separation? Because if not then we’re back to check downs and curl routes.
