According to some insider on Saintsreport. Yeah or Nay on shipping out can't guard mike?
"I was all for this trade until Pete told me today that Cincy wants Mike Thomas. Thomas, Kamara, 2 #1s and 2 #2s are scary for me."

depending on how his contract was structured, that trade would likely frick up our cap in 2020

Wait- Cincinnati is shopping the #1 pick? And New Orleans is in discussion with them for it? And this is from a source on Saintsinsider?

That isn't happening. I would be very hesitant to make that trade for a swap of first round picks.

only way it's even considered if it's straight up and even then I don't see any way that happens

Here is the quote
Many major trade agreements are actually done long before the draft, but the NFL does not want them announced until draft day to build maximum suspense and excitement. The deal between Green Bay and the Saints for Davenport was completed 5 weeks before the draft. I knew about this, but because of my involvement, I couldn't say. You kept probing me so I tried to mislead you until draft day. The talks between the Saints and Bengals are quite real and could get completed within weeks. Yes, there are multiple teams talking to the Bengals, but the Saints offer is the most interesting one for the Bengals right now.
There's only one hold-up, the 2nd player besides Kamara. If this goes through, you Who Dats will be surprised at how little draft compensation will be required. Cincy wants Michael Thomas plus Kamara. The Saints are currently taking the position that MT is off-limits. But Coach Payton told the FO, at nearly any cost. My sources are telling me if that holds the deal-up, the Saints will roll on Thomas and include him.
Brees knows he can't play a 19-20 game season with high effectiveness anymore. One of the keys for the Saints is making sure Brees is willing to stay one more year to tutor Burrow and step in if neccessary. That has not been agreed upon yet."

I am not saying I believe it. Just delivering the message. This guy did call the Davenport trade and pick when nobody had him mocked in the 1st round. He was a late 2nd early 3rd round grade.

who cares. We're rebuilding with a rookie QB who is game ready.
eta: trading MT only costs us a mill of dead cap this year and frees up a lot moving forward thereafter.

Someone reported that they were talking and people on this board shite on him. I also have been hearing the same thing. The Saints are already moving on from the idea of "win now" with Brees, but they are concerned with not only the future of QB play but also the local interest in the team. Drew Brees is a huge reason for interest in the Saints, both locally and abroad - when he leaves there is going to be a huge gap in both of those areas.
Joe has really embraced the area and vice versa. The Saints drafting Burrow could not only (potentially) sew up the QB position for the foreseeable future, but also provide a level of buzz akin to the signing of Drew Brees or Archie Manning. It's a good roster and marketing move. NFL franchises are above all businesses that depend 100% on public opinion and perception. A likable "face of the franchise" is more important than anything else to a team owner.

Can’t guard mike is the only untouchable on the roster.
