We need to actually bitch about the Granderson signings because he has been absolutely QUIET.

Totally agree! We need a pass rusher. Granderson and Young aren’t it. They are the other guy. Cam is just old, but he’s as good as either of the other two. We need to let one of them go and get a true pass rusher.

Chase has easily been the best player on this defense since he’s come back. There are a million other issues with this team and you clowns want to complain about one of the good things.

Bump

Juwan Johnson is #4 in the NFL in TE receiver yards with 733.

Chase Young is tied for #23 in the NFL with seven sacks, but each player tied or ahead of him has played at least three more games this season. Most players have played at least five more games than Young.

4 sacks in 15 games is not worth $17M a year dawg. I don't care how you slice it.

- it’s seven sacks.
-he missed five games.
-he has very good pressure rate stats (more important stat than sacks).
-No coincidence that six of Cam’s 8.5 sacks have come since Young started playing. Other D-linemen as well. Young is someone other teams have to account for which frees up other guys, and his pressures cause the QB to try to scramble leading to cleanup sacks.
-you have no idea how positional value works in the NFL. $17m for an above average d-end is an incredibly good contract. And Young has been borderline elite since he came back from
Injury.

I’m good with both. JJ has been really good since Shough won the starting job.

Chase has been really good too! We need more pressure up the middle.

This is where I disagree on Young.

1) Granderson has been a total disappointment the last two years.
2) Young is an oft injured average DE. He’d be great as “just a guy” because that’s what he is. He has a bull rush, doesn’t set the edge and isn’t great in the run game. No more, no less.

I don’t hate the contract. I hate we don’t have a pass rusher that can get sacks. I know those are hard to find, but Young isn’t that.

Cole Kmet, Mark Andrews, and Jonnu Smith all make more than Johnson

All three are on teams with competing targets at te. JJ isn’t dealing with that. Seems like all Shough throws to is JJ and Olave.
Jonnu had a huge year last year with no competition.

JJ has been better of late, but he drops plenty of passes, and usually grades out as one of the worse run blocking tight ends in the league.

Some of that could be tied to attrition.
1 game sample size, but Shaheed was his favorite target before the trade. Beefing up trade value?
Vele had just as many target as JJ at one point
Game planning for Neal? I recall Neal having 1 or 2 games with a bunch of targets, then nothing
Tipton seams to get a handful or nothing

This year has been horendous (6 drops, 6.5%), but usually he sits around 3 and 4.7% the past 3 years.

Surprisingly, that's better than Travis Kelce, on par with Mark Andrews, and worse than George Kittle & Trey McBride.

If that says enough, he's plenty solid as a receiving TE. But I think we can all agree, we need to find a complete 400-600 yard receiving TE who can block.

The poster I was responding to said he had 4 sacks. It was worded very strangely. I agree 7 is better despite the missed games.

Chase Young is so good. I love how he’s 491st in total tackles (an embarrassing 17 combined and paltry 9 solo),

While it is perfectly acceptable to dislike Chase Young based on your opinion. It's a little unfair to use a stats your gotcha moment.

For reference here are your top ten DE in tackles (from ESPN as of 12/23/2025)

99) Maxx Crosby (LV) 45 solo 28 assist (73) - 15 games
154) Leonard Williams (SEA) 25 solo 33 assist (59) - 15 games
155) Myles Garret (CLE) 41 solo 17 assist (58) - 15 games
177) Derrick Brown (CAR) 25 solo 29 assist (54) - 15 games
194) A'Shawn Robinson (CAR) 20 solo 31 assist (51) - 15-games
216) Danielle Hunter (HOU) 25 solo 23 assist (48) - 15 games
232) Demarcus Lawrence (SEA) 21 solo 25 assist (46) - 14 games
232) Carl Granderson (NO) 30 solo 16 assist (46) - 15 games
232) George Karlaftis (KC) 24 solo 22 assist (46) - 15 games
240) Will Anderson Jr. (HOU) 29 solo 16 assist (45) - 15 games

418) Chase Young (NO) 16 solo 12 assist (28) - 10 games

Now if you account for the same production in the 5 missed games that would put him around 24 solo 18 assist for 42 tackles around 268 over all Top 15 for DE in tackles. Now lets do sacks for DE

1) Myles Garret - 22 - 15 games
3) Danielle Hunter - 13 - 15 games
5) Micah Parsons - 12.5 - 14 games
7) Aidan Hutchinson - 11.5 - 15 games
7) Will Anderson jr - 11.5 - 15 games
11) Maxx Crosby - 10 -15 games
12) Montez Sweat - 9.5 - 15 games
15) Cam Jordan - 8.5 - 15 games
18) Will McDonald - 8 - 15 games
20) John Franklin-Myers - 7.5 - 15 games

24) Chase Young - 7 - 10 games. If you account for the 5 games missed with the same production that would be 10.5 sacks putting him top 5 in DE and top ten overall.

Right now according to over the cap Chase Young is the 22 highest paid DE in the NFL. When healthy you are getting value well above that contract.

His problem isn't stats or play. It's his injury history. It's always been his injury history. If you are going to come bitching about a player at least bring the right ammo.

I think it's an Ohio state thing. Young and Olave are two of our best players, and they get shite on constantly

Yap.

Johnson is TE28 by PFF. He leads all TE’s in drops and can’t block.

If there were value in a big WR playing TE, everyone would be doing it.

Seems like his drops have lessened since Shough has taken over. I agree another TE would be a good addition.

I’m not upset about the contract. I’m more concerned about opportunity loss. If you rely upon Young to be your primary pass rusher/game changer you will be sorely disappointed. He’s an average and oft injured player. He would be great as a Robin, not a Batman. We need a Batman!

what opportunity loss? He's a top 10 guy on a sweetheart deal, the absolute best kind of player. He's also a high character person who wants to be here and build something out

Let me guess, you wanted Ezeiruaku instead of Shough like Towne? That the kind of opportunity loss we're talking about? Who would we replace him with?
