and when that rookie you drop in turns out like Fields or Darnell or Leinart, people would be bitching that we didn't get a vet and went with a rookie.
People are bitching now, and the result will not be materially different.

look, neither side will agree with what the right decision was - personally, if you have the opportunity to get a good vet, you pull the trigger
How many Super Bowl wins have “good vets” accumulated? How about wild card wins?
Personally, I wouldn’t invest heavily in a player that has shown zero ability to make my team better.

rookies are too much of a crap shoot in regards to QB's. sure you hit a rare shot with a Burrow or Mahomes, but that is the outlier of the norm by far.
There are at least 10 teams that started a guy on a rookie contract this year for the majority of the season. Everyone of those teams will either make every effort to make that guy their long time starter, or have the ability to move on immediately if it doesn’t work out or a better option comes along.

Saints talk says "frick them Super Bowls"
They're content with a ceiling of a 1st round exit

Coming from where we were, being a playoff caliber team is actually something to hang your hat on
Sorry that’s not enough for you, Mr. Fancypants lawyer

So you'd trade the Payton era for the Haslett era?

He said playoff caliber. Not dumpster fire.

Haslett had a bunch of playoff caliber teams with the sort of celling he's promoting.

Jared Goff and Jimmy fricking G have made the Super Bowl since 2018. Are you guys going to continue to talk out of your own arse or are you just gluttons for punishment?
Also, Stafford was by no means elite before he joined the Rams. He won the whole thing. I’m not saying we have the roster that either of those 3 teams had but a couple of good drafts can get you there quick. Under Ireland, we’ve put together a couple of those.

And last year we traded this year's 1st and our 2nd next year
Posted on 3/6/23 at 3:43 pm to SlowFlowPro
And still ended up with a first this year and a second next year

We should have all 4 of those picks, bruv. That's the point.

I agree. It would be nice to have those picks. They overreacted to getting a WR and an OT (that didn't play a down in the first half of the season). If both end up as quality starters, then it will be a wise investment. Olave has already proven that he can play.

I mean, does it really matter if you hit on the picks? Let’s go through and shite on every trade up if you just don’t like the idea of it

I mean to be fair we have Gayle who is more concerned with being buddy buddies with the archdiocese, Mickey who never met a contract he didn’t like to turn into dead money, a losing head coach, and an OC who had to be talked into taking the job.
Outside of Ireland we’re pretty shite as of late as well.
