and when that rookie you drop in turns out like Fields or Darnell or Leinart, people would be bitching that we didn't get a vet and went with a rookie.
look, neither side will agree with what the right decision was - personally, if you have the opportunity to get a good vet, you pull the trigger. rookies are too much of a crap shoot in regards to QB's. sure you hit a rare shot with a Burrow or Mahomes, but that is the outlier of the norm by far.

Davenport can't stay on the field. Can't be anywhere near one of the best players on a defense if he isn't available.
