One and done. Legendary NFL quarterback Drew Brees will not return to NBC after just one season as a studio and game analyst, according to sources.
The decision seemed mutual as Brees preferred doing games over the “Football Night in America” studio show, and NBC didn’t have many NFL games to offer him. NBC soured on Brees’ potential after originally believing he could develop into the heir apparent to Cris Collinsworth on “Sunday Night Football” games.
On the air, Brees, 43, had an up and down rookie season that was highlighted by a poor performance in his biggest broadcast of the year, the Bengals-Raiders playoff game.
While Brees is done with NBC, there is still a possibility he could end up in an NFL booth next year as Fox still has to fill its top game analyst positions for this year as Tom Brady won’t start until after he finishes playing.

You kidding me? Nobody bought into his fake shite?

He's too nice for a color commentator. Would do better if he stays an analyst.
He isn't willing to call people out during games like say Troy Aikman is willing to.

Kay Adams to NBC. Brees returns to football.

He saw all the receivers we added and wants to come back

Should've went on a 1 year steroid cycle. Get it out the system, and then return this year

His hair products probably costed NBC too much…

It took Troy time to criticize his peers, and he didn't do a better job until he was years removed from playing. Broadcasters weren't as criticized at the time, but they also weren't paid like they are now.

Pretty cutthroat of Payton to go after Brees post playing gig like that

Get out of the homer stage and it's okay to admit he was awful. I don't think Payton will be much better.

I said it during the year---he was really bad.

Brees was hot garbage. In that playoff game all he kept talking about was how everything was magnified in the playoffs.

Sacrificed his principles for the TV money and, in the end, loses both.

I called this. He was pretty terrible as a commentator on NBC. He’s too bland and vanilla. It’s like he’s scared to say something dumb and offend somebody.
I was really surprised too because I kind of expected him to be way better at it.

What a loser. Ruined his sterling reputation with the most passionate portion of his fan base just for an extra $7 million

Brees is the GOAT player, but he is the football commentator equivalent to that girl you know from high school that is always trying to sell you pampered chef shite. His on air personality is a mix between a corporate Twitter PR bot and a salesperson

Loved him doing Notre Dame games

He was a good quarterback but never a particularly interesting and thoughtful guy at any point. The interesting parts were his uncanny dedication to doing the boring things other guys don’t a not doing charismatic and engaging things
