No way we should pay him this. Roll with teddy and less money. I love Brees but we aren’t winning with him taking up 30 million.

I bet teddy gets closer than we expect

I think Brees will sign for the same type contract he signed last time.

What?!? Have you watched football at all this year? Rodgers hasn’t been that impressive.

And yet the Packers did enough to advance.

If they pay Brees that, I will likely watch and care significantly less next year. I’m tired of these players acting like they give a shite about winning championships yet then turn around and demand top dollar that handcuffs the team now and moving forward.

If he doesn’t care about winning after making over $200 million just in salary alone from the Saints, then so be it.

He’s not worth it and won’t win this team another championship. He’s just trying to make bank and extend his records if this is the case and the organization would show its stupidity and short sightedness.

Ryan Tannehill I repeat Ryan Tannehill is in the AFC Championship. Taysom Hill time and spend that money on DL and OL #2 WR and we're better off Brees plateaued a while ago. Get legit Safety and DBs in FA, then we can hope for the best. IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON! Like dating a chick that cheat on you and you keep hoping she'll stop and be an good girl right.

I think we need better help on the Oline. A new guard maybe?

Another WR?

but I'm just so sick of the defense blowing it at the end.

How do you propose the Saints get these pieces? They currently have ~$12 million in cap space right now. Even if they make some restructures, you have to add in Brees’ new contract and outside of completely handcuffing this team when we have players like Ram, Lattimore, Kamara, and others up for contracts. So for a team that will not win a title, you are destroying the future.

Again, Brees has been great overall for this organization, but his time is over. He’s not going to win them a title as currently constructed and this team will lose key players if they sign Brees to that big of a contract this year.

Please don’t say the draft. It is rare that you will get the level of talent the team needs from rookies late in rounds and especially seeing as we don’t have a second round pick. You’ll have to again massively mortgage the future for a team that will not win a championship.

He should change his name to Drew Bree$. That guy is ALL about the money. Just ask his wife. He will keep playing for another decade at her current spending rate. Fake jewelry, anyone?

Had he taken any sort of Brady deal, we’d have at least 3-4 rings by now. His all-smiles look after choking in the playoffs this year just further confirms this. I wish it wasn’t the case.

AND they did it by WINNING two straight ON THE ROAD in the playoffs from the 6 seed.

when has brees done that? won two straight playoff games on the road?

God the fans on this website are embarrassing. They don't deserve a generational talent like Brees. Gonna be a MAJOR reality check when he decides to hang up the cleats.

Not in the same stadium with Rodgers? Wow that’s really dumb. Do you watch nfl or just college?

DB is the greatest Saint of all time, but he is AGING and his pay MUST reflect his capabilities.

DB needs a LOT of talent supporting him. DB was the whole team for ten seasons but he can't do it all anymore.

Man I love this guy, but to pay him that kind of money, you looking at a 10-6, 9-7 season because of no talent. That will crush this franchise

Argument is moronic no matter how many times it's repeated. You all are naive in that you think Drew Brees is the only human being on this planet capable of taking the Saints to the Super Bowl. Good teams retool and move on.

Since the last time the Saints won the Super Bowl -- yes, bro, it's been a decade -- the 49ers have made it to one, imploded, and built up another team that is on the cusp of making another one.

There are many ways to build a Super Bowl team. They don't all involve Drew Brees. But, by all means, pay the man out of sentimentality so he can pad his stats some more. Or... you could wake up and realize it's becoming an exercise in futility and do what good teams do: move on. Will be fricking hilarious if the 49ers end up in the Super Bowl again.

It’s the average of what a guy like Garoppolo gets.

That’s 13 year younger Jimmy Garoppolo. If you pay Drew, the rate should be commensurate with his age and diminishing capabilities.

Brees don’t need the money. Should take a 20 million one year deal and help the team.

Let's not pretend this franchise isn't going to pay Brees.

If Payton wants Brees....Brees will be here. Payton is as close to being Belichick with the Saints as any other coach in the league. He has a ton of leeway and will get what he wants
