Let’s not pretend whoever the DC hired is actually running any of the play calls anyway

Pleasant was Nick Toon’s teammate with the Wisconsin Badgers. Following his playing days he got Master’s from Michigan. So smart fella. Lions fans don’t want to lose him

quote:

He spent the past four seasons (2017-20) as the Los Angeles Rams' cornerbacks coach, his first positional coaching job in the NFL. In that span, Rams cornerbacks ranked second in the NFL in interceptions (28), led the NFL in interception return yards (496) and led the NFL in interceptions returned for touchdowns (five). He helped guide CB Jalen Ramsey to First-Team AP All-Pro honors in 2020, and worked with CB Marcus Peters, who earned First-Team AP All-Pro honors in 2019. Pleasant also played an instrumental role in the development of Rams CB Darious Williams, who joined the club in 2018 after originally signing as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Baltimore Ravens. Williams played at a high level in 2020, his first season as a full-time starter. He went on to record four interceptions in the regular season, and a pick-six in the postseason. In Pleasant's four seasons in L.A., the Rams earned two NFC West division titles, three postseason appearances and a berth in Super Bowl LIII.

How often does this happen that a coach pulls double duty with responsibilities on both sides of the ball? I don't feel like I hear that ever, but I think it's great logic that could be great experience for a coach down the line that could eventually be a HC.

I’m pretty sure that’s defensive pass game coordinator.

Guess I've never heard of that. I can't keep up with all these new made up positions

Side note: Shouldn't an OC be pretty good as a DC (and vice versa)?

These coaches spend at least 12 hours a day looking at the design/scheme of the plays of their opponent. They know what will beat their opponent's call and what wouldn't work.

I'm really surprised these guys aren't more interchangeable.
