All of this. Been to buffalo and lives in Pittsburgh. Legit fanbases. Steelers are a little spoiled because they have always been good

The Browns have this. Cleveland the city doesn’t have the vibe that we do but they love to drink beer, put on those ugly colors, and do that dawg pound thing.

In my experience true born and bred Saints fans are a different breed compared to just about any other fan base. We all know what happened in 2005 but that event brought this region together unlike anything could and that matters at the end of the day.

I’m under 40 and can remember the bad days, the almost years, till the year it actually happened. It matters to me and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

The Green Bay Packers definitely qualify, seeing as they're the only publicly owned / run franchise.

Is it true that there were no murders the night the saints won the Super Bowl? Or is that just a rumor?

Saints are the prime example of what makes New Orleans, New Orleans. I have brought friends from out of state that attended LSU with me, and when they experience they experience a Saints home game for the first time, they are blown away by the difference in the atmosphere compared to their home NFL teams. Like the OP said the music, drinking, food, fandom from every walk of life is incredible.

Its what New Orleans and south LA does, culture, religion, and life mixed into one creates an atmosphere like no other. There are cities all over the country where a good % of people do not care in the least what happens on sunday, win or lose does not matter. Even people that do not care in New Orleans know very quickly because the entire mood of the city can change over night with a win or loss. I personally love it, and like people have already said there have been a lot of years where there was not a whole lot of good that happened, but just the party itself allowed us to escape. Last thing, can remember getting dragged to mass and hoping the homily would be short so we could get home and watch the game from start to finish.

Also Earl have you been to Philly or Oakland and seen games there, how do they compare. Obviously both either try and or do have the reps of being fun, rude, and tough fans. Sad I never got a chance to see a Raiders game there in Oakland, football that is for both cities.

Mate you dont think that Green Bay qualifies? Whether you've been there or not that's kind of insane.

Most of the fans outside of Division teams that I have talked too from other cities say this is the away game they pick because they always have a great time.

No. The Saints aren't unique in that respect. If you're basing you're opinion off of the atmosphere in Charlotte, then I could see why you would think that way. The Panthers don't really have a deep-rooted long history in the area and Charlotte is to a large degree a "transplant" city (somewhat similar to Atlanta). The city's population has exploded since the 90's, and that growth is largely from out of state transplants.

Green Bay is probably the most unique franchise. It's a major professional franchise located in a very minor metro area (For ex: Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Gulfport, MS. are all larger metro areas than Green Bay). I don't think it's hyperbole to say that there is nothing more important than the Packers in that community. They have sold out every home game since 1960 and that's including two decades (70's and 80's) where the franchise was mediocre, at best (only 2 playoff appearances between 1968 and 1992)

In Pittsburgh the Steelers have an SEC-like following. If you think LSU or Alabama fans are bad about wearing school apparel all the time, go to Pittsburgh. It's all Steelers all the time.

This hasn't always been the case. Prior to the Brees/Payton era there were many games that had to be saved from TV blackouts at the last second because they were short of sellouts.

This is the Golden Age of Saints football.

New Orleans and its culture are unique and that is likely to carry over to enterprises based in New Orleans.

New Orleans is a bunch of nice restaurants, drunks, coonasses, gays, weirdos, crooked politicians and black gangs. It's pretty unique.

I think documents show that Southern University in Baton Rouge first began the who dat chant in the late 1960s.
