re: Anyone still want to complain about the Shough pick?

Speak your truth. Everyone for five rounds of 32 picks was racist

If you don’t think we would be in worse shape without the Shough pick, you are being exceedingly egotistical.

Picking a guy with three season ending injuries in the last four years who was the 4th best QB in a weak ACC and who has problems with pressure with a high 2nd round pick?
Yes.
Yes.

They will bitch that it wasn't Sanders.

Him being 26 means nothing, he’s a pocket passer QB so he’s in his prime right now and for another 6-7 years. I love the pick. He’s so much of a better QB than Shaduer ever dreamed of being. He can make all the throws look effortless while Deion’s son has a weak arse arm and he holds the ball too long and takes unnecessary sacks.

How does Carr retiring make picking an older QB that’s been injured a better value? I would have preferred waiting on a QB. Sanders fell to the 5th would not have wanted him earlier but damn the 5th? Ewers went in the 7th, Howard or McCord all fliers worth taking over Slough at 40

He was projected as 2nd round pick by literally anyone credible.
Show your work. Everything I saw had him in the 4th round.

Did you cry when your mock draft wasn’t followed
I point out the horrible value almost every year, it turns out I’m right. I bump the threads and people like you disappear and avoid the threads again until the next draft that we reach on players. Never ending cycle.
We did get good value last year and the later rounds this year. Shame we went backwards again early this year.
Smarter play was to trade for Howell, or sign Wentz and let them battle Rattler for this year.
Then draft one next year in a better class. Our front office has no vision and is drafts reactively to fill holes. It’s why we’ve been sucking arse.

He's not injury prone lo
Let’s not go there considering he is property of Oschner now.

to be fair we have no idea. I’m rooting for the guy big time. But there is definitely a chance he just totally sucks. Many much higher drafted players have struggled in bad teams before. The number of second round QBs coming in as rookies and playing really well is essentially nonexistent.
We could be in the same shape than if Rattler started. Or a game either way.
My number one hope with Shough (outside of us just having drafted a franchise qb) is that he shows his hand either way. Hopefully he’s a top guy for a decade plus. But if not I hope he shows that he’s NOT the guy relatively quickly and we can move on.
The last thing I want is investing several seasons into a second rounder if we have the chance to snag a real blue chipper.

It means he was 25 and still could not dominate college competition.
Spencer Rattler carried a better QB rating in college

Hey Pel why would you want to start a rookie QB in the NFL.Unless you have a Jaden Daniel or JB they shouldn’t hit the field until they get aquanted with the system and the SPEED of the league.Last season the Saints had to play SR .

This “thought” process shows a stunning lack of any kind of critical thinking. Like it never occurred to you there are alternatives beyond just drafting Shough at 40 or not drafting him at 40. You are just lapping up what is being served. First of all we can’t possibly know if the Saints are better or worse off with Shough because we don’t know the alternatives, they could have drafted someone else or signed or traded for a veteran.

Before you make up your mind that he sucks, you should watch the full Clemson and Notre Dame games on YouTube. Both Clemson and ND had excellent defenses with players that were drafted this year. Clemson’s QB will be a first rounder next year.
Shough outplayed him. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Our QB lit up their defense. Louisville WRs could not hold on to the ball. There were multiple drops in both games that were tight window NFL throws that should have been caught.
In the Notre Dame game, he had multiple passes broken up by the ND secondary. The ND corners are much better than Louisville s WRs
The interception by Watts was a deflection off the WRs hands. Throw was perfect, but the catch attempt was not.
Give the young man a chance. He might surprise you.

Huh? Neither of us can predict the future. There’s zero concrete evidence he’s any better than Rattler or Haener. With guys like mike green and Amos still on the board

Day 2 QB hit rates are significantly lower than every other position. So what actual evidence can you point to that proves “we are in better shape for picking Shough”

Shaduer is head and shoulders better you want where he was drafted to justifying his talent so badly he’s easily a top 10 pick don’t care for any of the politics that dropped him

When have you ever seen a black qb labeled “smart” or “intelligent” during the draft process? I somehow saw it with shough.
