Haven't seen much on him and I'd rather have him back for depth than to draft a corner unless someone crazy falls.

Hell no! Please let him walk. I'd rather have a rookie

I mean.. it’s not like he’s gonna start.. he will have a limited roll. He’s solid veteran depth. I get that he’s had his ups and downs, but he’s physical. If he’s the 5th best corner on your team, I’d take that.

PJ Williams graded out exponentially better at safety, albeit in limited snaps. Near league worst at CB

I mean don’t get me wrong he is awful on the outside but he is a decent slot corner and makes some plays from that position. We could do much worse.

If we draft a CB, it's going to be our backup outside CB & future starter. Janoris Jenkins is on the wrong side of 30.

If we sign PJ Williams...we better draft a CB. PJ Williams & PRob shouldn't be your only backup options on the outside. They're ok for a game or 2, but we need better if a starter goes down for a decent length of time.

Besides Lattimore, who was the last playable corner that we’ve ever even drafted. It’s gotta be our worst position in terms of draft considering it seems we pick 2 or so every single year.

I can recall Tracy Porter, but can’t think of anyone respectable at corner via draft in between.

I remember some dude named White who was awful, some walking ambulance from Georgia, a dude from Indiana, Maryland or Rutgers, total bust from Nebraska... I guess in general we suck on defense in terms of talent evaluations via draft.

What say you?

Didn’t we draft another Indiana corner or safety in the past 2 years? I know where Tracy is from bro

You didn't say anything that was incorrect.

I say that all the CB's you listed were before Ireland got here. All of them besides Lattimore. CGJ was last year, & he plays slot CB.

I don't think Dennis Allen or Aaron Glenn were here for the other guys as well.

This FO has proven that they should be trusted. I completely believe in them as long as the top level talent is available,& by "top level"...I mean 1st round-early 4th round. Past that is much harder imo.

The last miss was OT Rick Leonard in the 4th, & that was actually a late 4th. Our last 3 drafts have been completely elite.

Eh

The one thing he was actually good at was coming up and making a hit on a man with the ball. That takes heart

Dude needs to be a safety though

Since Ireland started as scouting director (2015), the saints have had 4 genuine whiffs in the first 4 rounds.

Stephone Anthony
Kikaha
Garret Grayson
Rick Leonard

4 out of 20 guys selected. Everyone else is either an absolute stud or has contributed over the past couple of years to a winning team. These guys have crushed the draft.

I'd love to have him back as well. He shouldn't cost much, and I'm assuming at this point in his career he's looking at consecutive 1yr deals and possibly with different teams unless he has an amazing year out of nowhere.

Like others mentioned I'd like to see him at Safety. We are potentially looking at big, overpaying deals for Bell (not looking like it anymore) and M.Williams and I just cannot see paying M.Williams much more than he's making now since he is so afraid of contact. PJ at safety provides physicality, he's got a knack for punching the ball out, and his man coverage skills while subpar for CB would be damn good when compared to other safeties

He came into the process late in 2015. So those first 3 were really under the old guard.

And Leonard was a 4th rounder iirc so not so unforgivable (but definitely a big miss).
