2018 has better overall players but not as many “team” guys

2011 pretty easily.

2011 Drew > 2018 Drew
Pierre Thomas > Mark Ingram
Jimmy > Watson

Harper < M. Williams
Meachem < Ted Ginn Jr.
Sproles < Kamara

Vilma, Greer & Colston vs. Davis, Lattimore and MT13 is kind of a wash.

Talent wise it’s not that much of a difference. And Roman Harper is really the only weak link of all those players. I just think the gap between guys like Sproles and Kamara and isn’t as much as young Drew and old Drew, etc.

Also, why Meachem and not Devery or Lance Moore? That makes that comparison even more in favor of 2011.

I think that’s the biggest difference; the WR room. Along with Brees’s age.

2011 because we had prime Brees

18 Brees was solid at best at that point. Better defense and some better offensive players in 18, but prime Brees outweighs that. People forget just how great Brees was in his prime. They focus on the down layer years

2011 is probably better than our 09 team

2011 solely due to prime Brees. The talent level on 2018 may have been a bit better overall, but the team was better in 2011.

Both should have won the Super Bowl though

put 2011 Brees on the 2018 Saints roster and they may not lose a game

Both great teams, but I have to go 2011 team.
You can argue the 2018 team had better key defensive players that eventually compromised the elite defense we have today, but that 2011 offense was just unreal.

Jimmy Graham in the Saints offense was UNFAIR.
Lining him up along with prime Colston gave us 2 big target 1000 yard WRs while also having Lance Moore, Devery Henderson, and Meachem made for a hell of WR corps. Not to mention you had prime 5,476 yard passing season Brees throwing to them.

Also our backfield in 2011 was STACKED.
Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, Darren Sproles, Chris Ivory.
Essentially 4 RB1 backs on a team.

That team just had too many ways to beat you.

2011 was the best drew.

2018 was the better roster. pretty sure we got hit with injuries bad this season. Maybe 2011 too...

Gotta admit...I thought the 2018 D was way better than the 2011 D...but the stats don't back that up (except for the run D)

For once my memory didn't fail me. I remember that the 2011 defense being elite. They weren't as flashy as the 09 defense but alot more sound. Glad to see the numbers back that up.

remember the early part of 2018?

The Bucs put a 48 burger on the Superdome scoreboard. I remember being so pissed. I mean we scored 40 points and home and didn't win!

The Falcons scored 37 points in week 3. We won though. That was a makeup for that Bucs loss.

had high scoring games with the Rams the first time won 45-35.

also outlasted the Steelers when they still had Antonio Brown and JuJu was really good that year. Brown ate us alive and JuJU also had a big game but he fumbled at the end and we got the turnover.

in 2011 the Lions would have probably beaten us in the playoffs if we didn't have a world beater offense.

the Packers put up a lot on us in the opener.

Houston scored a lot too but the offense had a huge 4th quarter rally and Greer made a key interception.

that San Francisco game the defense settled down after a rough start but we all know how that ended

1-1 record that season vs. Rams

that is why we had homefield to begin with remember?

beat them 45-35 first time around.

I hate to bring up bad stuff but 2011 was the last year of bounty gate. Sean was suspended for the 2012 season. I think 2011 they claimed the saints targeted that baby Cam and a couple other QBs that year.

Also frick Goodell and that non coaching bitch Cerullo.

4 of the next 5 seasons were 7-9 years after that before turning things around again. Without Bountygate Saints history could have been so much different.
