I’ve only seen a 2 minute clip that Fletcher Mackel posted on his Twitter, but I can tell Zion is definitely holding some things back in this interview. Seems like a company line interview more than anything. Like Griffin asked him to do it and if he didn’t throw the organization under the bus, maybe they would reconsider completely ruling him out for the entire 1st rd.

That’s kind of my feel. There was probably some truth to what he was saying, but this wasn’t 100% authentic Zion. That much was obvious.

Love that the org forced Zion’s hand. He had to talk to the media today and it’s something he has to start doing more of moving forward. Control your own narrative, but be honest and don’t hide like last year.

Yeah he was hiding the fact that he is again fat and out of shape and is saying it is “mental”…bullshite, over a hamstring lol. He doesn’t feel like Zion because right now he is over weight, again. He just isn’t going to say it

Nah pelicans are protecting Zion and not throwing him under the bus for being unprofessional and Zion is running with it.

Man frick this whole pussy arse “My mental health” attitude these motherfrickers have. I’ve never seen a more collective group of soft arse dudes in my life than I've seen these last 2 years in the NBA.

Yeah he's fat but he should not have to jump through a million hoops to play. Luka was fat coming into the year, you think Dallas would hold him out till he met conditioning levels?

Zion said he feels good physically. Said it’s more about “when I feel like Zion again.”

I loved the first comment I saw:

"I'm going to tell my boss that."

you might not want to turn your tv on or check your phone after this short interview you did.

Imagine making over 200m and only playing when you feel like it.

The new CBA isnt helping this either

As I’ve mentioned in the last 24 hours, he doesn’t want to play at a lower weight because he’ll feel less powerful-something he’s said in the past , aka less like Zion.

His play style is powerful, downhill. He wants to play at a bigger weight because it gives him an advantage.

If he could shoot, this would be a lesser issue(think 1st game Zion).

I love watching Zion play, but without the length of other physical marvels-Shaq,LeBron,Giannis,Griffin…the lack of diversity in his game combined with his usage will lead to injuries and long intervals between playing, as evident, repeatedly throughout his career.

He said he's physically fine but can't understand why folks don't get why he's not playing.

We now have both of our 2 best players refusing to play when largely healthy because of the mental aspect of it.

That's not a good sign. Find me all the dudes in the history of sports who were known to be maniacal about winning, then tell me how many times they sat out when healthy because of the mental aspect of it.

No biggie, it's only the postseason.

The crazy thing is both of our top talents said legit the same thing in the same year.

This is something conditioned in the locker room.
