I would say most important short term improvements:
1) Conditioning
2) Free Throws
3) Defense
4) Ball Handling
Long term you probably want a decent 3 point shot and passing skills (although he’s already a decent passer).

I’m looking at a picture of a rookie, correct?

You're looking at a picture of an action hero. He looks ready to cost the city millions of dollars in damage while he saves the day.

It’s almost as if a midrange shot is remarkably inefficient and in comparison Zion is absurdly efficient...
Or as if other players have completely dominated without a strong mid range game

Zion needs to get into the 75% free throw range and tighten up his handle and he will legit be unstoppable.

It seemed like 90% of his missed FT were short, barely hitting the front of the rim. That is generally due to fatigue, which should definitely be lessened by being in shape.
I would agree that most free throws missed short are from fatigue, and that did play a part, but in Zions case, I think it had way more to do with how flat he would shoot his free throws. The same thing can be said about his 3’s. You don’t need a Dirk arch on it, or an Aminu moon all, but the trajectory of your shot needs some arch, and his has not, and did not in college either.

A midrange game would create more driving lanes. Which everybody knows he wants to do . I hope he doesn’t settle for taking more than 1/2 3 a game

I went down the YouTube rabbit hole last night of Zion highlights and some of the stuff he was doing with the ball at Duke we haven’t seen him do here yet. Go watch his highlights vs Kentucky. I know the NBA game is tougher but if he can even add a little bit of that to his game he would be even better than he was.

I think Zion has to merely tighten up his ball skills. He has the skill but just needs the reps. In college he could get away with being a little sloppy with the ball. In the NBA, he can’t.

Or a 3 would create even bigger driving lanes.

Bingo. I know this makes Red Auerbach roll over in his grave but the metrics just say it’s not worth it sans a rule change of some sort.

And with that, the midrange game is much harder to build IMO. If Zion can get to 30-33% from 3pt, that seems like a realistic goal. From an eFG% that means he'd need to be 45-50% from midrange to be similarly efficient. 45-50% from midrange means he'd have to be one of the best midrange shooters in the game just to equal becoming a 30-33% below avg 3pt shooter.
And again, in doing so he would be opening up lanes less than just becoming a mediocre 3pt shooter.

Zion looks like he is about to break Batman’s spine

Apparently he lost 25 lbs of fat and added 10lbs of muscle. Griff said Zion has been handling the ball awfully well. he and Josh hart both said his shot looks better than ever.
