We are discussing Tyler Johnson, who was given that bizarre contract by Miami (and subsquently traded to PHO) during that cap explosion offseason.

They had to really tweak the Arenas provision after the Nets backloaded his offer sheet with $40M of $50M to be paid in the last 2 years. The Heat wanted to smooth it to $12.5M/yr, but Johnson wouldn't agree (smart move as he ended up getting traded and earned extra $$$ with his kicker0

And Phoenix would have to pay a premium on top of taking Solo to offload him.

There's a 100% chance he's saying that just because of 1 SBNation article. They do have the trade chips but it makes no sense for them.

%100 would take that.

Love me some Ayton. He's going to be an all-star and probably one for a long time.
TJ Warren is a guy any team would want and he's on a friendly contract.
#6 pick isnt exactly what you want, its almost guess work at this point, but hope that Culver falls for some reason.

Why is Ayton such a commodity?

Look at the top teams in the L and show me who is wining with big men

A big man as a center piece would be an epic fail

It’s a wing league boys, don’t fall for the pretty double double stat line !!

they'd have to add more to that deal

Nope.

You're basically getting a #1 pick, a position we need. A shooter in Warren, %.428 from three, exactly what we need. And a nice pick to boot.

Hell yea.

Bingo

Ayton does nothing for us, especially if you are treating him as a centerpiece in an AD deal. Nope

No, they would not be "god awful"

"God awful" is like a 20 win team, they wouldn't be a very bad team, not at all.

I look at it as Ayton being an asset under control for 4-5 years who could blossom. Doesn’t have to be for us.

As opposed to taking, say, Brandon Ingram and/or Lonzo Ball and then either flipping them immediately or having to pay them.

Higher ceiling and longer control than most of the other pieces that have been rumored to be offered.

And he's on a rookie contract. If he was going to need to be re-upped in a year then I wouldn't even consider it, but the value is there because if he shows improvement you can turn around and deal him for the wing you need.

thought id question the fit of Ayton & Zion

Can you elaborate?

I don't think it's a bad fit. Ayton has his struggles on D, but he did improve as the year went on, but Zion would be the defensive anchor.

Ayton was also a competent outside shooter and obviously should improve, so I'm not sure he messes up the spacing THAT much.

The only or main thing I can see is I like Zion as the small ball 5 anchor of a end of game lineup ,and obviously that would cause issues with Ayton on the floor.

You're simply looking for the highest level return. High level players can be moved for high level players that fit more.

Sixers, Jazz, Nuggets.

Ayton would not be the center piece. Even a team like Houston is much better bc of Capela. We wouldnt run the offense through him.

Payton
Ayton
Zion
Holiday
Warren

Yes please.

Tyler Johnson is without a doubt someone you can play and would contribute. He's overpaid sure, but he can play.

He would absolutely have to be in the deal with Solo going out, and it would work salary wise.

I'd take that deal in a heartbeat, but i think i'd like to get another pick. They have the Bucks first round pick next year.

So AD/Solo for Ayton/TJ/Johnson/#6/2020 Bucks 1st.
I'd do that over the the Celtics deal with all their picks.

I like the 4 guys mocked after the top 3. Hunter/Culver/White/Garland. Would be happy to land any of those guys. and would still love to get Brogdon even if we got White/Garland. Jrue and Brogdon are both more than capable of guarding the opposing teams 2 and 3 position. Would really love a lineup with Brogdon and Hunter to go with Jrue/Zion/Ayton. That's a stout defensive lineup.

I also think Phoenix is stupid to consider this.

From what I hear, they ready to move on from Warren because he's always injured and they want to resign Oubre which may cost a lot. Warren will be very attainable this offseason.

So we'd probably have to take Johnsons horrible contract and give them AD basically for Ayton and #6 pick. I think they win that trade easily. We'd end up with one of Culver, Hunter or Garland which ain't bad. Will probably be Hunter though.

It’s Phoenix.

The last bright idea they had was flipping an aging Steve Nash and they managed to piss away those picks.
