Really good move by the Cavs. Honestly makes the return for BI look much better. Can't believe they let Hunter go for that, he was having a nice year.

was holding out on the slim chance for CJ
Honestly surprised CJ didn’t have much of a market for contending teams. His contract isn’t all that crazy anymore with some recent contracts given out, and the dude just consistently does what he’s supposed to do every year. Hasn’t slowed down at all even if he’s getting older.

I'm hoping we re-reroute Brown somewhere. Don't think it happens.
I actually like Olynyk's fit with Zion a lot but don't like the extra year on his deal

Its about the expiring contract. Teams will be more willing to trade for him as an expiring and re signing for a bargain if the chemistry is there.
I just hope its any team except us.

Same. I was convinced Griff was going to sit on his hands and do nothing but then the BI trade happens. That made me think he was doing to deal CJ. Now I' back thinking we're done.

Olynyk would be a fringe all star if he only played the Pels. I would imagine most of his career highs are vs the Pels. Maybe that good mojo will transfer over if he ends up staying.

Clearly they are working the phones trying to do something. If they weren't the deal would be "done"
Just kinda doubt anything happens

Aren't week pretty much clear from getting above the tax next season? If so, I don't get the urge to trade CJ. If things somehow go better than expected next season and we want to be buyers around the trade deadline, his salary would be key. If we trade him now, taking on longer salaries isn't great, and taking back expirings would be really bad. The only thing that makes sense is taking back draft picks + a similar amount of salary that expires after 25/26, but there's not going to be a lot of options available for that.

Only issue is he will be playing FOR the Pelicans and against the Pelicans

If tweet fails to load, click here. That gets Atlanta out of the tax

Hoping Griffin can dump Brown and/or Olynyk for at least some 2nds, but he probably won't do anything else now that he is comfortably below the tax.
Olynk is probably a negative contract, I’d rather just hang onto him since he fits with Zion. And maybe try to move next year.
Brown has value to a contending team, I wouldn’t mind if we even took on a bad contract for him if we could get another good asset or young player.

A lot of teams have managed to duck the tax

Yeah, that payout is getting smaller and smaller
For most teams including us, it’s about not starting that repeater clock just yet

Which reminds me… I just looked it up and 3 years is the number of repeater season it takes to move a first to the back of the round.
Depending on when the clock started on that (23-24 season?), Golden State may be proper fricked soon, certainly by the end of the Jimmy-Steph-Dray era.

Looks like the Pels are done. I thought they might try to move Alvarado for a heavily protected first but have not seen anything to that effect.

Still a little time. We probably see at least 2 or so more deals come in late

I’m petty, I’d rather keep him if that’s the games the league are paying. Pay up or he’ll sit on our bench for the rest of the season.
