Worst part about the season ending is Rivers having to stop playing...

last 5 games:
14.8ppg
5.8 APG
6 RPG
34.6 mpg

Only 42.2 FG%, but being a talented defender, he was looking like a legit 1st guard off the bench type. His style of play fits perfectly next to Morrow as well.

I'm not a fan of counting stats in the last couple weeks.

i'm not one of counting stats in the first couple either. maybe they should base MVP voting of games 30-45 and call it a day.

he really isn't awful, just young and needs time to develop.

Considering the little amount of playing time he got during the rest of the season, we basically don't have a choice. Either way, no one can deny he improved his game a ton this year.

Forget the stats, he passed the eye test by knocking down open 3s and hitting pull up mid range jumpers. He has definitely improved and I think he'll be a good backup. Hopefully we can resign Morrow because they both played well together.

Quick question (Please don't kill me for it)

Considering how he has looked down the stretch and how Tyreke has looked back at PG, do y'all regret the Jrue Holiday trade?

Basically looking back would you rather roll with those guys going forward and have addressed other roster issues with those picks?

no. rivers isn't on jrue's level and may never be. a starting lineup with jrue and reke will be deadly next season

i don't think that question can be answered accurately for a couple of years. at the very least, it can't be answered until we see Jrue actually play with the closing 5 for more than 10 games.

as of now, no regrets.

Not at all. Jrue is a very good spot up and 3 point shooter and one of the top guard defenders in the league. Jrue and Tyreke will make a fantastic backourt. The only move currently on the roster that is worth regretting is resigning Eric Gordon.

At this point, we look to have a very solid backcourt and will throw 3 of them out there at times.

Rivers really has come around, and dont be surprised to see him suit up in the summer league. He needs as many reps as possible, bc last night he looked very comfortable scoring in a variety of ways. He still needs to hammer he that if he has an open shot, not to hesitate and just fire away.

If you had the rookie season he had, you'd probably be gunshy about taking open shots too.

So many variables in this question:

- Do we see the development from Austin without the trade/Jrue's injury?
- Who would we have picked in reality in place of Noel?
- Would we legitimately have had a shot at a S&T big like Pekovic?
- Does that big hinder Davis' coming out party this year?
- What happens to Gordon this offseason? If he stays, will Austin be happy with 15 MPG next year?
- Do we keep Morrow? He seems to be a very positive mentor to AR.
- Do we keep Roberts? We know he is forever the backup PG in Monty's heart.
- How long is Monty coaching?
- Is Holiday's contract even tradeable after this injury?
- Does Rivers continue to develop?

It is ironic. A lot of TigerinATL's positives about Jrue could be used to describe Austin too. Rivers finished at 45.5% from "Catch n Shoot" 3 this year, good for 11th in the league ( BSS Link). Austin turns it over less. He defended the opposing PG better this year according to most advanced stats (granted, he didn't play starting points as much).

It does make you wonder though. I don't regret it as we could potentially have one of the best 4 guard rotations in the league (Gordon or not). Unless, of course, Monty goes Monty and puts Evans back on the bench next year. That changes everything. We have the flexibility to play some very efficient small ball.

Evans should be our starting PG going into next year without a shadow of a doubt. That's why I mainly focused on the SG position.

God, Monty really does suck. We shouldn't have to evaluate our roster based on how fricking stupid our coach is...

I do expect Austin to keep improving, but for the next few years at least I think he's capped out at 5 assists per 36 minutes (he only had 4.3 assists per 36 this season). Holiday on the other hand averaged 8.4 per 36 this season and 7.7 last season. He may not be CP3, but he's closer to a traditional PG than Rivers and Tyreke (6.4 assists per 36). And even though Holiday has a reputation for turnovers, he's got a 2.5:1 Assist to TO ratio compared to 2:1 for Austin and Tyreke.

If They let him play without him having to look over his shoulder at the bench to see if he's getting pulled after a mistake...yes he develops.

Trey Burke

Doubt it.

Does that big hinder Davis?

I hope I'm wrong, but Davis look more comfortable (talking only offensive end) on the perimeter. So I'd say no.

Who is gonna take on Gordon's contract? No one. Austin should be the backup PG, and get at least 25 minutes.

frickin love Morrow.

Do we keep Roberts?

I don't think so after Monty's comments.

I don't know. It's killing me though.

There's no way the trade him. After what they gave up to get him. No way.

Loosen the reigns, and yes.

Jrue and Reke will compliment each other, because Jrue can really play off-ball well.

Yeah, but you're comparing apples and oranges. In the "Holiday role" (last 5 games or so), he averaged 6 per 36. This without Davis.

Ditto with Tyreke. How many games did he play at starting PG? How many minutes without Roberts/Rivers on the floor who bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense?

They're all combo guards, but Holiday is still the most point guardy of the lot. I'm ok running with a bunch of combo guards though, it gives you versatility as long as the roles are well defined.

The question that should be asked is, "did he progress?" Last season he was slowly coming on but had trouble finishing and his FT% was abysmal. I think he has gotten better in both categories, but still needs to improve.

Next season we should see a much better player. He will get another offseason in the gym, this time without a broken hand. He will have 2 seasons of NBA ball under his belt. He should make a leap, but will probably never be that all world guy.
