Miami isn't getting it done, as they only have 2 picks, and I doubt they'd want to include Bam.

Phoenix makes the most sense, IMO because they have available picks, and a young "star".

There's only a handful of teams that it makes sense for, IMO. You have to be a contender, and be able to make the trade while still being keeping that status. You also have to have picks, and at least 1 young player with potential.

ETA: I wonder if Miami would trade Lowry plus pick(s) for Kyrie.

he'd have to go to a 3rd team anyway. nets cant acquire a second designated rookie contract via trade (already have simmons)

I’d be on the fence about doing the deal for Zion.

The injuries are concerning, but KD also has injuries.

The age gap is insane. The optics and human element part of it would be weird too as it appears Zion has really been putting down roots lately in New Orleans, CJ has taken him under his wing, etc.

I mean, I guess if our extension talks broke down with him somehow, that would make me consider a Zion for KD type deal more.

But I’d lean No overall to a KD deal for either Zion or Ingram. Which would take us out of the running overall most likely unless the Nets desire Jonas , Herb, salary filler and every pick we have over other potential packages.

The Nets want to stay competitive. Plus the Rockets have a ton of their picks. So tanking does them no good..

If the Nets truly wanted to stay competitive, and believed they could. they would have just thrown a max extension at Kyrie.

They'll just revert back to the previous strategy, but with the luxury of having KD and Kyrie as trade assets to begin the process, and Ben Simmons instead of DRuss.

Probably not and they are unlikely to be able to.

They will want to counter the Rockets having all of their picks with...getting picks of their own via trade.

They are getting 6 picks back here, several of which that could be good.

But yes, I was kind of joking here, obviously they don't do this without getting a better player back than Jonas as the best one, and I wouldn't trade anyone better to make it happen.

So there we are.

I do think though your little exercise shows maybe there is a path where the Pels could keep BI/Cj/Zion and get KD.

Gayle would obviously have to be willing to go into luxury territory for a while, but include some of Herb/Trey/Dyson with all the picks and suddenly all of that is looking like quite the haul for Brooklyn for Kyrie/KD.

The money works, FYI.

We would need to find a Center and depth but that would be pretty easy.

Maybe the Nets should trade KD to the Rockets for all of their picks back and Jabari Smith.

You joke. But that is the type of package they want.

A young star level player (under 22) and many picks. Not a ton of teams fit that narrative. It's fun trying to figure out the beat deal. We definitely have a top 3 situation and package for him.

I'm just here to add I hope to God we aren't considered a team in this. I want to see what we have and really, really like the team make up, chemistry, and future with the youth and all the picks/swaps.

DO NOT WANT TO BLOW IT ALL UP. WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM PUT AROUND ZION. LET'S FLAP TO THAT.
