There's really only a handful of teams he'd consider that have the assets somewhat to trade for him and still compete.

GSW can do all their young guys and 2 firsts, but they'd have to include Draymond or Wiggins for salary

Miami can do Herro and 3 future 1sts with Lowry as filler

Knicks can do one around Barrett and many many firsts, and they have the salaries to match like Randle and Fournier.

I'd say Durant would like to stay in New York
but if he leaves New York, then i think it's going to be Portland where he goes.
Sharpe, Simons and a bunch of picks with salary filler of Bledsoe, although i'm not sure if you can package all of those guys with Simons as a RFA.

i'm not trading BI or Zion for him, even though i think we'd win a championship if we did.

He is going where the Nets can get the best return, and that's it.

Durant has 4 years left, what is he gonna do? Sit out until he is 39?
Just curious why you feel this way when that has never happened?

He'll give a short list of teams, maybe even only 1 or 2 teams. And he'll be traded to those 1 or 2 teams, even if another team had a better offer. That's always how it goes.

And if you're right because hey it could happen, that would be the extreme outlier.

Do people still think this is actually possible?

No team is unloading their entire collection of assets for a guy that doesn't want to be there. No matter how many years are left on his deal.

He literally wouldn't be on the block on the first place is those years mattered.
It never ever ever happens.

I absolutely want it to happen, it just never does.

Even our own CJ McCollum has stated he had a shite ton of say in getting to New Orleans.

I really could see Knicks shifting their FA plans and bringing Kyrie and Durant in via trade, they have the cap space and salaries and picks to do it

If Sarver isn't forced out, when CP3 retires their picks will be very appealing again.

Sources: Kevin Durant initially had the LA Lakers on his list of preferred destinations but Rob Pelinka’s unwillingness to include Talen Horton-Tucker in any potential deal put an end to trade discussions.

Brooklyn instantly hangs up on us if Trey, Herb, or Dyson isn't part of the deal.

Portland gave him the option between 3 teams that had offers they were willing to accept.

Trey and Herb would be gone with the quickness if there was a way to add KD to a CJ/BI/Zion trio

Again, what is KD's play? He will be 34 next season.

Obviously a bunch of teams, probably more than half, will voluntarily take themselves out of the sweepstakes cause they dont have the excess assets and enough quality players remaining after a trade to justify giving up the farm for KD, but for instance, hypothetically, if you are New Orleans, and wanted to make the move, what fear do you really have?

KD isn't going to just retire and let that money evaporate, and he's too sensitive to take the hit to his legacy by sitting out the rest of his career. And if the team he's traded to is already a playoff team, there isn't really an excuse.

Posted this in the other thread, but it's being discussed more here.

Phoenix has a very good package to offer:

Suns send out:

Ayton to Brooklyn, along with picks and swaps from 23-29
Crowder to a cap space team like the Pistons
Saric to another cap space team like Houston
Craig into the Brooklyn TPE (ignore this I confused my short defensive PFs)

Durant to PHX

Just a hypothetical of how this could work.

That's a young very good player in Ayton, 4 first round picks, and 3 swaps.

Source close to the situation tells @TheAthletic that the Nets are expected to keep Ben Simmons. Some had rightfully wondered if there would be a ripple effect here on the 25-year-old's Nets future.

The Nets draft picks owed to Houston:

2023 first-round pick swap
2024 first-round pick
2025 first-round pick swap
2026 first-round pick
2027 first-round pick swap

Every single one is UNPROTECTED.

And because of this they have to get a superstar in return. I hate to say this, but the Lakers might be at the top of the board with a swap for AD and draftpicks.
