I do...but history says that when you finally get the pick it isn't that great because of all the things I mentioned.

Think back to the Wolves pick we got in CP3 trade. That was the Holy Grail for years. But by the time it conveyed, it was a choice between Austin Rivers and Meyers Leonard. The Kings pick will be 'meh'

The only time they were great was with Brooklyn but that is because they had these large albatross contracts that prevented them from getting better. That was an aberration. I would bet that the Memphis pick either converts between 8-11 next year or 8-16 in 2021. I don't think it will become the asset optimists think it will become.

They would only go Knicks route if they get #1 IMO. And it's as much for Zion's marketability as on the court stuff. If the Knicks land any other pick, I would bet the trade is with Boston.

This is precisely what it should be. The recent scuttlebutt out of Boston saying Jayson Tatum wouldn’t mind coming here to be the alpha has me even more excited than before at the prospect of him being a Pel. We haven’t had that alpha since pre injury CP3. That’s the type of crap you’d here Dame dolla say nowadays. I absolutely want one of those guys on my team.

Any chance we are able to get Tatum, Smart and Brown with the picks or does it sound more like Tatum and one of the others?

If its a choice between Tatum and Zion I'm going Zion. The hype, media, and upside is just too high.

But if its #2 I'm definitely going Tatum.

We can get all three of picks get the top pick. I think it's Tatum and Smart if pick isn't #1.

I think Ainge will be really hesitant to include Brown in the deal also. Doubt he’ll be included.

Again, that's too simple of a way to look that it IMO. You gotta also factor in what you can get for Jrue if you take Knicks route. Also gotta have a discussion with your scouts about the 2020 draft.

Checkers us seeing the current move. Chess players see the whole board

Yeah, but will the FO actually move Jrue if they land Zion?

I find it hard to believe that a team with Jrue, Tatum, smart/brown, and whatever piece we can develop out of Williams/Jackson/jah/picks couldn’t attract a FA to compete for a title.
Why do you find it hard to believe an elite free agent wouldn't come to New Orleans?

But in the situation where Knicks get #1, I would imagine the Pels take the Knicks deal and therefore getting all 3 from Celtics does not happen anyway.

Why is that funny? Every GM in the league would make the same decision if they were in our shoes.

Not only that, but also the consistent lack of protections. Memphis can plan to keep the pick next year developing and then switch to winning the following year. The Nets had bad contracts and couldn't tank to keep their picks, so they were just horrible.

With the way teams tank now for the top pick, it would take incredible incompetence for a team with more than a year to be able to plan to try to win to be in the bottom 4 of the league. If Memphis tries to win in 2021 all year through the end of the season, I don't see any way they are bottom 5.

Yeah but the hype surrounding Zion will dwarf that of AD. It would be a big deal.

I’m not a basketball fan at all outside of the pels. Is Zion THAT much better a prospect? Or just the explosion of social media.

The latter.

From what I read, he's the best prospect since AD.

But the hype around him is off the charts. I can't think of a more hyped player coming to the league since Lebron, unless I'm missing an obvious one?
