What record does Monty need the Pels at to not be fired or on the hot seat?

Many on this board do not like Monty as a coach. It could be argued this is an important season for him to show what he can do now that he has some talent to work with.

Here is his record as head coach of the Pels:
2010-11: 46-36 (.561) -- First round playoff exit
2011-12: 21-45 (.318)
2012-12: 27-55 (.329)
Career: 94-136 (.409)

What kind of season does this team need to have for Monty to be the coach of the future for this team? Is this a hot seat season for him?

I don't think it's a hot seat season for him unless he really fricks it up and they go under .500. I think anything above .500, which would be nearly a 15 game improvement, would be realistic. Making the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed is doable, IMO. So I think as long as he can win 40 games, which I don't think will be a problem, he should be fine. But I know many on here will not see it that way.

Whatever record we need to have the 11th through 14th pick in the lotto. We can't be top 10 again and if we are top 5 well....

38 wins and extremely competitive probably saves his job.

I think if he doesn't make the playoffs he will be somewhat on the hot seat. That is if we are not hit by the injury bug.

He's probably safe if the team hovers around the .500 mark this season. I'm sure it will take a little while for him to figure out a system that will work with the new faces on the team and management will probably understand that. If they don't make the playoffs in two seasons he's gone.

Not losing by blowing games in the last 5 min would certainly help.

I don't think he's on the hot seat but if he doesn't win around 35 games with this talent then something is seriously wrong.

This will be the first and last time I ever respond to you on this board. No one gives a shite what your bandwagon/trolling arse has to say. Your opinion is the definition of nothing. You should quite frankly feel bad for wasting everyone's time. "Man that's a terrible opinion, who wrote that?" Oh. Moving on.

IF we're healthy, he better win 40-45 games this year considering that nearly half the league is going to be terrible on purpose.

Before the offseason I thought 38 wins was the minimum acceptable floor barring injury to someone like AD or Anderson. With the additions being made I think the team needs to be .500 or better. 7-10 in the West is where this team should finish with the aforementioned injuries being the only legit excuse for falling short.

I think around .500 is the bare minimum for him to not be too much on the hot seat. I think we'll win about 46 games at least this year, though. That's fully healthy, of course. Hopefully we don't get hit with the injury plague again.

You've got to give him at the very least two more years. You can't just throw people together and expect to be competing for a championship that same season. To throw out the coach after only the first year just stunts the growth of the team together.

Yeah I don't really see him being on the hot seat this season, either. I just think we'll be much better even with a new core.

I like Monty and the fact that he's on the Olympic staff shows how good of a coach he is. I don't think he's on the hot seat and as long as he doesn't shite the bed (less than 30-35 wins, barring injury) I think he'll be okay.
