Are any of those offers realistic considering your hypothetical has AD turning down the super max and requesting a trade?

Tatum is all but off-limits already, if they can just sit tight for another year and sign AD wouldn't they just do that rather than give up their guy?

The only one I think is realistic is the Knicks. It would be a decent consolation compared to the cornerstone we received for CP3.

Ideally the Lakers package with Ball and two athletic wings would be best. Ball would thrive in a Gentry system. Taking Hart over him is hilarious.

All indications are Boston will give up anything needed to get AD there, and Tatum wouldnt be off the table as there is no other way they could match the value other teams would be offering.

We saw how this can work out with PG13 and LA. They thought they could wait and get him in FA and were wrong. Whoever trades for AD gets him long term. I see this being a giant bidding war.

You HAVE to get Tatum back in a Boston deal, and I'm sure they will eventually agree to that.

I would love Mitchell Robinson back in a Knicks trade.

I think the Clippers could be a dark horse. I'm not sure how S&Ts work these days, but if you could bring in Tobias after he signs, SGA, Robinson, and a pick and offload Hill's contract as well, that would be a pretty good haul.

Don't know, but might as well try something else. We've had 7 years. Just let him go somewhere else and we can try again.

Lol Ball's ceiling is huge. He just hit 5/9 threes today and is already one of the leagues best defenders. He's also 20 years oldd

What is ball’s ceiling?

He just hit 5/9? What about his other 400 attempts from 3

And he’s 21

Still better than what the Lakers can offer

Boston wants Kyrie and AD as their 2 cornerstones of the franchise, they dont want to move Kyrie to bring him in which is why they pretty much have to wait.

You guys can put out all the trades and what the team would look like on paper but you are skipping a HUGE step?

Who is the coach? Who is the GM? What is the system?

If AD turns down the contract, does Dell get to start the rebuild? With a Gentry rebuild in mind? Or, does a new guy come and do the rebuild and does he hire another coach with a different system?

That is far more important than how the roster looks on paper. If they trade AD, they need to do it right for once. Bring in a GM and coach with a long term vision. Build a culture. Build depth, develop internally, use the new G League team, etc.

That's far more important IMO

I personally like Gentry's system, I dont like his rotations though. I think we can win with his system if we have the right players with depth (that's the key) where we are not having to play jrue 38-41 minutes. Dell has gotten smarter and more calculated with his moves these last 2 years and pretty much came out ahead in all trades, so I would be comfortable with him pulling off an AD trade and believe he would get max value in return.

Yep, if AD declines the extension, you immediately fire Demps and Gentry and let the new blood start the rebuild from scratch.

man its depressing this has now become a foregone conclusion

I'd be pissed and say its another star demanding to get sent to a big market....but the truth is we just blew it.

I doubt he would turn down that supermax too much money to pass on. But if that’s the case no matter who the trade is with send me 2 young stars and 2 1st rounders at minimum

I’d call up Boston and ask for Tatum/Brown in a package and let them turn me down. If they do, then negotiations start. If they don’t, even better.

First I'd like to say I hope we can put something together for AD to stay.

But, if he asks to be traded would he have any desire to go back home to Chicago?

If they end up with the #1 pick do they have anything else to put together with it?

I'm guessing AD wouldn't be interested because they're so shitty and CHI wouldn't do it because they know he wouldn't re-sign, but figured it was worth a discussion.

Dell will be gone this summer if AD is being traded. Gentry would be gone too. With Tom out of the picture and no pressure to keep AD, they will do a proper ground up rebuild. I think any new GM will focus on draft assets and young players in an AD trade to sell excitement and development as opposed to taking vets and trying to stay in NBA limbo. Too early to speculate on the new GM/coach combo, but I would think they will have a pace/movement philosophy as that is what works and sells enthusiasm.

It is easy to project the teams who have been after him (BOS & LAL) as interested, but there is so much space available this summer it is unknown what teams will be looking to form the next super team. Someone like the Hawks will have high draft picks and multiple young assets plus room for 2 max contracts. The Nets are going to have space and assets, the knicks will have space, the Bulls will have space and assets.

If the Bulls, Nets, Knicks, or Hawks get the #1 overall, they have the draft capital and young assets to get AD and the space to sign another max if not 2 to keep him. Chicago would let him play in his hometown potentially with his buddy Kyrie.

Hawks and Nets have nobody I would even consider trading AD for..

Bulls it would depend on their draft pick, but Carter, Dunn and their 1st wouldnt be too bad, again depending on the spot of their 1st (top 5 at least)

So, you think AD says he will not re-sign and Gayle or Loomis pushes pause and then cleans house, interviews a bunch of candidates to make sure they get the right guy. Then, he comes in and finds a coach and they discuss the direction they wanna go, then re-open trade talks and accept bids?

I don't agree. I agree that is what they SHOULD do. But I don't see it. Maybe if AD tells them on May 15th he won't sign the extension. But I have no faith in Gayle or Loomis to understand or frankly care that much about doing this the right way. I bet Dell gets to make the trade and that would be all kind of backwards

AD’s home is the 7.5 million home in LA.
AD wants Klutch Sports and LeBrin, Kobe get him tapped into Hollywood and endorsements.

If he is traded, I know the next team can only offer 4 yrs and the Pels 5, but isn’t he still entitled to Super Max? He earned it.
