What is the most important part of Zion's game?

His first step, and his body width. Unfortunately, his first step, his explosiveness is what causes his injuries. Without that in his game he's an ordinary player. The Pelicans knew this before they drafted him. Griffin took the easy choice by drafting Zion over Morant. I know Morant hasn't been perfect, but Morant should have been the pick. Zion is killing this franchise. It's time to trade him, or void his contract because he's overweight. I don't care how it makes the franchise look. Do whatever it takes to end this torture of the Pelican fanbase.

Ja would be in jail or dead if he ended up in New Orleans.

There was no team in the NBA that would take Morant over Zion. You can’t blame Griffin on this. Pels fans would have gone crazy if we bypassed Zion. He showed no signs of this type of behavior in college.

I call bull----! If I remember correctly he had an injury at Duke. My point is if you spoke with any sports doctor I believe they would have said that Zion's body type would be a risk for injuries. In other words a short career. Yes, I agree Morant would have been a big risk off the court, but you cannot disagree that Morant hates to lose. He's a fierce competitor, and he would have turned the Smoothie King Center upside down. Memphis is a city where any young rich man can get in loads of trouble.

You can call BS all you want. There was no logical NBA fan, media person or NBA team personnel that would not take Zion over Ja. He had one minor knee injury in college that he came back from. Zion was not the same body type in college as NBA. Stop trying to change stuff man. No one saw Zion having these issues.

I never heard that but I never heard anybody mention that affecting him not being taken first overall. I mean Zion was the consensus number one that year.

Let me ask you a question. Remember Mario Williams? Of course you remember Reggie Bush? Bush was the clear choice to be the first pick in the draft, but the Texans thought differently. Who had the better career? Williams did. Everyone wanted Zion, but there were many experts in basketball that knew his body type was a huge risk.

First overall thats football its really not comparable. Second Reggie was an integral piece in Saints winning the superbowl and was a dynamic weapon in our offense. Mario Williams was a good defensive end but Im not sure Saints think they rather would have had Mario Williams. This was not a good example.
Name one expert in 2019 that said we shouldn’t draft Zion first overall due to his body type?? Go ahead find one?

Me, I'm the expert !!! The first time I laid eyes on Zion in a uniform I would have bet he would have a short career. If you couldn't see that you are blind. He's knocked kneed, 270 pound plus, torn meniscus before he makes his first basket as a professional. Your meniscus is like a shock absorber for your body, and this guy jumps over the moon and lands all 275 plus pounds on those legs. This Pelican fanbase understands now. Zion is finished. Do whatever it takes but end this torture. Send him packing. I do not want to see him in uniform wearing New Orleans colors.

We never got Duke Zion. We drafted Duke Zion not the guy we have now. Instead we got something else. Its hard to blame Griffin here. Kudos to you for calling it out but you literally were like the only one who wouldn’t have drafted him.

I’m not saying anyone could have forseen all this, but with hindsight, there was an article that came out before the draft talking about Zion and RJ at Duke. Zion says in it that they went to Cane’s every single day for lunch. I remember thinking “What? That’s not smart for these guys who need to be in insane shape.” But I didn’t think anything of it more than that. Looking back, it as a sign. And I can’t blame anyone for not seeing the signs with Zion, though you could kinda see he was putting on bad weight even from the beginning to end of his Duke season.

Interesting theory. I always heard it’s because he is perpetually overweight, out of shape, doesn’t commit to post-game recovery protocols, and is unserious about diet and nutrition.

He was a too short fat boy at 19 at his athletic peak. He was heavier than 95% of players when he entered the NBA. Anyone with a brain could see he was too small and too fat.
