Being jacked and working out will most certainly do those things lmao. Do y’all not remember being hoodwinked a couple of years ago with Zion looking jacked pics

I do like that the pictures show a level of summer effort we haven't seen often. But as someone else already said, it's when he gets injured that there are problems. Work this hard when you're injured to stay in shape and then you'll be giving us what we need.

Yeah for sure, he definitely looks good and will probably start to slim down with workouts starting

I’m not being negative. I’m genuinely encouraged seeing this, but we do see this right before every season starts, so I don’t get any extra hyped for the season.

Touchdownjeebus is someone I would trust when it comes to conditioning and nutrition. Dude is beyond yoked

Looks like he is wearing some kind of harness. You can see the guy behind him with resistant bands. They are attached to him some how.

My thread title was basically in jest... because I know we talk about it every pre-season lol.

I’ve got zero bias. Zion used to be a top 3 favorite athlete for me. Now, he’s just kind of another dude. I look at him as if he’s just a random player on a different team. Which ultimately removes the bias I used to have for him. I now see Zion more clearly for what he is. Fancy Charles Barkley who doesn’t rebound or play games. Consider if this was a message board for any of the other 29 teams, everyone would largely be rolling their eyes at this pic.

I’m still rooting for him as a Pelicans fan. I just no longer have any percent of confidence/expectations left in him. Every game he plays for the Pels is kind of more or less an unexpected bonus vs something I trust and expect. He’s a very good player. But he’s untrustworthy. And this most recent pic still shows that he doesn’t completely get it imo.

Dude that's just not true. You are a big Pels fan, you have inherent bias towards our players.

Zion is a excellent rebounder -- I don't know what you are talking about at all with that comment. His total rebound % of 12.0 would have been 50th in the league if he'd played enough minutes to qualify. And it would be even higher if he didn't play on the same team as the guy with the #1 TRB% -- Jonas Valanciunas. Because Jonas is so good at getting rebounds, when they are both on the floor, the team usually prefers for Zion to leak out early for a potential fast break.

He’s getting there. He won’t ever be in real shape until he plays in games.

Are you serious? If you look at that and have those comments, it is clear that you have a major bias.

He doesn’t look THAT different. Still soft in chest and midsection but he will probably need to be playing consistently for that to taper down more. His shoulders and arms are jacked but a lot of guys start to look leaner/more muscular there first.

He looks good. Really good.

And it’s hard for me to care. Get on the court. Stay there all year. Then I’ll care.

Are you unaware that people’s bodies store fat differently? And as you lose weight it will fall of different parts of the body at different rates?

Often times people who have effortless abs store fat in their lower back or arse/legs. Theres even a distinction between over or under muscle (subcutaneous vs. visceral….though most likely not relevant here).

Zion very clearly loses fat LAST in his midsection. Like the last 30 lbs. Again….from an athletic standpoint….neck/face/arms/shoulders tell you more

Thanks buddy. I’ve worked and continue to work really hard on my workouts and nutrition. Outside of bullshitting on TD and watching sports, it’s my only other hobby.

His problem is sugar. He has the muscle mass to burn through carbs but sugar is poison, unless used VERY specifically, and I would bet he isn’t using it very specifically.

If he wants to slim down, I would suggest HIIT and the carnivore diet. That will suck the trash weight off of him while preserving the muscle.

About 30 days before the season, he needs to introduce complex carbs. He will need the cheap energy during the season. If he wants to grow and he has the discipline, introduce a small amount of sugar right after workouts to spike insulin.
