I don't see the need to knee jerk react to any hires we make, unless the Pels and Saints magically announce that they're done with Ochsner
Wait for the ping pong balls
See who we draft
Free agency
How fat does Zion look at the presser right before the season
Is all i care about right now

True, but regarding Zion, I am not 100% sure he will be with us at the start of season presser.
We will see

New orleans pistons

Unless he's traded he's been at every single one except for the broken foot season.
And then yes we will pivot to what we got for him in a trade.
I dont they'll trade him though.

Nah, unless the whole fricking team gets injured again we'll be too good to tank

I think Green will now have a big input on the roster construction. The one thing that never aligned in the Griffin era was philosophy when it came to the roster. Dumars, Weaver, and Green tend to like the same type of profiles in players.

Depends on the returns, and we aren't trading Zion without getting at least a good starter back.
Year 2 missi
Trey
It's just too early to predict anything like that.

all these Pels reporters are now on BlueSky lolololol. who didnt see that coming?

Just an FYI, the reaction outside of Pels boards on NBA forums is absolutely laughing their asses off at this. Pistons fans are clowning like crazy. Universal scorn at this move
I don't think Weaver is as bad as they are all saying, however.

He was there for one year (less than a year) as a Senior advisor. Not much you can take from that at all
He spent a decade with Sam Presti though.
He tanked with the Pistons for a few years, drafted well, but unlike Presti in OKC, someone else is reaping those rewards in Detroit

He picked Killian Hayes over Halliburton.
Ouch.
That has to be equally as bad as NAW/Hayes over Garland.

True, but every GM in ever league has picks like that.
Look at the 49ers, really one of the best franchises in the NFL right now. They gave up a boat load of picks to move up for Trey Lance

This is going to be an epic disaster. Dumars saw a GM that couldn’t win more that 23 games in a season and said “I want that guy.”

The majority of the current Pistons are guys he brought in.

Weaver's drafting was a mixed bag given the quality and quantity of picks he had available:
2020 - #7 - Killian Hayes
2020 - #16 - Isiah Stewart (traded #52 and DET 2025 1st #17)
2020 - #19 - Sadiq Bey (traded Kennard, Bruce Brown, 4 2nds)
2021 - #1 - Cade Cunnigham (consensus #1 most of the season)
2021 - #37 - JT Thor (traded to Hornets for nothing)
2021 - #42 - Isiah Livers
2021 - #52 - Luka Garza
2022 - #5 - Jaden Ivey
2022 - #13 - Jalen Duren (traded MIL 2025 1st - #19, absorbed Kemba)
2023 - #5 - Ausuar Thompson
2023 - #31 - James Nnaji (traded with '25 & '26 2nds for Marcus Sasser)
