They also can S&T Jaxson somewhere.

That could be about $8-$10 million worth of outgoing salary, likely to a cap space team looking for talent.

We were before the Nuggets got their shite together and the Mavs/Suns improved drastically.
We were 3rd three weeks ago man. We went 6-13 since Zion got hurt. Most of those were without BI as well. Now that BI is back and has his legs under him we’ve won 3 straight. I understand that other teams got better but this was a damn good team just 3 weeks ago down a star player. Just unfortunate that for a couple weeks we were down 2 star players.

I’d have preferred NO MOVES… Sell: continuity, internal growth, health. Instead #Pelicans make one move which, like it or not, sends message to everyone… “we’re cheap” and probably not yet truly serious about winning championships.

We also paid 4 second round picks to do it. It wasn't free
We've hit more on undrafted players than 2nd round players.
It could've been 8 2nd rounders and I wouldn't have cared.

The blog bois really have the fanbase up in a tizzy, POSITIVE that today was about cheap ownership.
24 hours ago they were posting fake KD/Collins/OG trades that would have us paying GSW-level tax bills.
Those dudes are guessing just like everybody else.

Mac is pretty clueless about basketball despite his job.

People weren’t going to be happy unless we made some titanic deal, good or bad.
I think Rudy Gobert and Minny shows just how much of a disaster that could have been.
J Rich is an upgrade from Graham while keeping us flexible for next season.
This is effectively keeping our powder dry by turning a shite player into an OK player and dumping a bunch of seconds we didn’t need.

The players on the current team need to prove they're serious about winning a championship.
We'll NEVER win one if either BI or Zion are hurt. Why would you want to go into the tax to get a short term rental, who may or may not cost future assets, if it won't make a difference when one of the stars is hurt?
Whether or not the bloggers want to admit it, we're not a title contender yet. We made a strong playoff showing last year and people all of the sudden thought we should be the 1 or 2 seed in the west.

I think it's everyone's favorite answer...it depends
It really depends on what we do this offseason and into next year up to the deadline that will tell me my final opinion on this move.
If it were truly cost cutting to avoid the tax next season, then not the move per se, but the fax that we're doing that would definitely have me melting pretty hard.
If it's just a way to save a little cash next season but still have a plan to try to add a big name, and thus by going into the tax we still save by not having Graham's salary on the books, then today makes sense.
So...it depends

I really think there wasn't a whole lot of major deals out there, but they looked at the Durant and Kyrie trades, and deals other teams were making and decided to make a minor move and see what this team has.
There will be decisions to be made this summer for sure.

I just disagree with you on this one.
Ask Dallas and Boston what they think. He was brought in to be a rotational piece on those playoff rosters. He lasted less than a season in both spots and ended up in Tankville USA, San Antonio.
It's fine, he's an expiring contract. But this was a cost cutting move and that is it.

What about next year when we don’t have salary filler for a move for someone like Bridges?
I love Bridges. Now that he's not on the Suns he's one of my favorite non Pels players. I have a soft spot for guys who like to be on the court. But what is him being available even based off of? He is under a great contract until 25/26. Have the Nets said that they were trying to move him? He was the centerpiece in a Kevin Durant trade, I doubt they are looking to trade him.

quote:Definitely not, but my point still stands. They were never saying the front office would make those deals, unless I missed them saying that.

And that concludes me sticking up for the Pels media bros I usually like to bash on here.

I'm not convinced the Graham move was a sign that ownership is cheap (yet), but it isn't the best look. On a day where every other competitor in the west made at least one move to shore up a weakness, we made one to cut costs for next year. It isn't a death blow, there is still time to improve the roster. We still have the famed war chest. But today was not encouraging. I think it is okay for people to be a little frustrated.
