Its also possible that seeing deals like Durant to the Suns and other west teams loading up disauded them. Essentially going with let's see what we have now, and try and load up in the future as these other teams falter or age

I do have to wonder if KD and Kyrie to the West didn't make the team re-evaluate just how open the contention window is. Because this feels like it's all about avoiding the tax next season.

This team was never going to acquire a superstar
It's not about a superstar. The Celtics traded first round picks for Hordord, White, and Brogdon. Those incremental improvements are why they went from a middle of the road team with twos stars to conference favorites. With 8 available 1st round picks and a decent amount of matching salaries, there were plenty of incremental improvements available.
There's still 5 minutes, but this is pretty damn depressing.

Where he belongs IMO
Reports have been all along that OG wanting a bigger role and contract + what Toronto was asking was probably way too rich for a lot of teams

Possibly yeah. But if we had the same record as the grizz or nuggets and Gayle didn’t pull the trigger, we’re not going anywhere with this franchise.

I'm fine with the move to get Graham off the team, but we didn't become a better team this season with this move, just a more flexible team this offseason.

This could be the more likely case. Still would have liked to have seen them make a move for Bridges

Guillory reporting that we are keeping Rich, not moving him in another deal

We are in the tax regardless next season, dumping Graham doesn’t change that.

Richardson is a slight upgrade on Graham, but otherwise I agree with you.

If they were convinced to sit out because other teams got better, shame on them. That is how you get BI to not resign and Zion to ask out. I'm very surprised and disappointed at how they have sat out this trade deadline. They have more and better quality assets than any of our competitors. They all seemed to get better. We didn't.

Which is extremely important. I'm actually pretty pleased. I was more worried that we'd overpay for someone in a short-sightedness mindset.

Expectations have definitely dropped now. Anything beyond a first round exit would be impressive.

Tell me what deal you would’ve made that someone else did?

We 10000% dont make it to 2nd round. And ill gladly take a big L if we do.

If we waive temple in the offseason we have ~10m in room under the tax with 3 open roster spots.

We bought time for our young guys to take the mantle next year. Which is the ideal situation. Dyson, Trey, and Herb will be in a dogfight for minutes next season.
Richardson gives you a proven playoffs vet to make a stretch run without commitment going into next season. Sets up the timeline perfectly.

Stop . They are not going into the tax unless they see BI and Zion play together, and make sure they understand what they have. Is what it is.
