And Trent Jr is close to CJ and may not be too happy about coming off the bench.

Gary Trent would be really nice for this team. His game reminds me of a bigger, better shooting Graham.

But if his issue is coming off the bench, would we want a potential malcontent?

He’s on a below .500 team that’s not even in the playin (#11). Also, he’s averaging 32MPG and has started 26/36 games. Did he recently get benched? Not sure why he’d be unhappy other than the team is a disappointment.

I'm just going off of what someone said in this thread that he's unhappy coming off the bench. Idk, I'd take him if that's not an issue.

I doubt this means we are involved in a potential Raptors trade.

CJ is literally the President of the Players Association. If any nba players have grievances, he is likely to hear about it, whether the Pels are involved or not.

Pelicans still need a closing center.

Pels need to focus on beating Denver and Memphis. They have the talent to beat every other team in the West.

Go get Ayton. Send some picks (both Milwaukee picms), JV, and Graham for a legit center that can matchup against the elite teams in the NBA.

We cannot add another max salary guy to this roster.

Would have to give up CJ.

The way CJ has played and the intangibles he brings to this team, that's a hard pass on Ayton.

CJ says there’s Raptors players that’s not happy and someone is getting moved, but due to tampering he can’t say who.

Hmmmmmmm

Not sure why he would say that publicly. Seems odd for him to do that especially in his role.

No, he'd just replace Herb who's been not so good this year.

Sure we can, you'll just have to be content with giving up one of: dyson, herb, or trey along with it.

Phoenix would want a young talent if they're giving up Ayton though.

You would also have to be content with not paying any of our young guys when they’re in need of a new contract, because the tax bill would be prohibitive for such a small market team like ours. There’s no team in the league with 4 max players on it for a reason. You sacrifice depth.

Nah, not really. Technically, we could if we're willing to go deep into the tax starting next season, but I'd think there's zero chance of that.

Ayton/CJ/BI/Zion alone would put is around $134-135 mil. The luxury tax is $162 mil, so only $28 mil of wiggle room.

And you still have around $61mil below to deal with:

JVal $15mil
Graham $11mil
Nance $10mil
Dyson $5mil
Kira $5mil
Trey $3.3mil
Naji $1.9mil
Herb $1.8mil
Jose.$1.8mil

We'd probably have to shed at least half of that, and you have to have buyers willing to give you an expiring to make it happen, which is much easier said than done, but ultimately we'd be looking at 2 years from now, is 4 main guys and zero depth.

There would be virtually no chance to resign Herb/Trey/Jose/Naji to their next extensions

Wizards have started shopping Hachimura. Have to think they won’t get much for him

Draft picks tend to lose value the second they are selected, much like cars leaving the lot.

Rui may have had some value in year 1-2 when he showed flashes but he has been pretty stagnant for a while now. Getting anything for him with a $8m QO cap hit associated with him is going to require a team taking a rental or doing a trash for trash swap.

He’s not gonna set the world on fire, but he can give 10-15 minutes a night to take some load off Larry/Jonas

I would just offer a swap of Ibaka for Billy, get both guys a fresh start and doesn’t cost either team any assets
