to which the Nets informed the Lakers that in order to make an offer to get in the Irving sweepstakes they would require all of their young players such as Austin Reaves and Max Christie and pick swaps in addition to Westbrook and the two first-round picks.

Is that that big a deal? Reaves has been a good cheap find but feels like that'll end up a lot more like them holding on to THT then him ending up being useless.

From @Marc Stein on Kyrie trade negotiations: "The Nets also succeeded, as one source close to the process put it, in meeting one of the presumed objectives held by team owner Joe Tsai: sending Irving somewhere other than the Lakers — his preferred destination."

Gotta hand it to Tsai, he and the Nets sort of single-handedly restructured the balance of power dynamics between players and FO/Ownership. At least after contributing to it last year

First team to really say frick you to a player that just signed a contract and dare them to tank their career over it(and KD and Kyrie flinched and showed up to work), then taking the step of actively not taking the trade to the team the player was trying to force his way to.

Also Kyrie/KD really put a damper on the what felt like a runaway train of player GM’ing.

I truly can’t think of any guy in the Zion generation looking at how poorly KD/Lebron/Kawhi heavy handed meddling has backfired compared to organically built teams like the Celtics/Bucks/Grizzlies/Pels/Nuggets and come away thinking, yep, us trying to think we know more than front offices is still the way to go!

Guaranteed he is sick and tired of Kyrie's bullshite for that return.

I don't think a star player has been repeatedly traded for less:

1st time: Boston
- Isaiah Thomas (off a huge injury), Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and 2018 Brooklyn 1st (Collin Sexton)

2nd time: Dallas
- Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, Unprotected 2019 1st, and 2 2nds

Trash return for a superstar

Only reason I live with the Laker trade was that we got a crippling amount of stuff from them which, in turn, made the 2022 pick worth something and may potentially do the same with the 23 swap and 24/25 pockz

The mouthpiece of the Lakers. Odds are it is not true and another Lakers' piece to direct a narrative.

The Nets’ refused Dallas' attempts to ship them Christian Wood's expiring contract or one of its less palatable long-term deals held by Tim Hardaway Jr. and Davis Bertans. Don’t be surprised, though, if Wood still gets dealt before Thursday’s 3 PM ET trade buzzer

Why do teams keep wanting to get rid of totally not a problem at all Christian Wood?

Wood’s going to have played on all 30 teams (possibly 32 if Seattle and Las Vegas get teams) by the end of his career at this rate.

THJ went from 142 games shooting 39% from 3 (then getting paid) to 92 games shooting 34% is the fine example of a player putting in a frickton of effort to get paid, then relaxing on it.

To be fair, he did get hurt.

Also, we potentially dodged a bullet since we tried to sign him too.

Get rid or looking to upgrade further?

Wood/Kyrie/Luka is not winning you a chip. That defense is poised to go from good to terrible.

But Wood is one of the only positive assets they have to make by bringing back another 20 million player that fits with Kyrie/Luka work. Since Tim Hardaway cant stay healthy and is a fraction of what he was.

Clippers are supposedly seeking him out, is target 1 and/or 2 wth Dlo, which would once again demonstrate that the hyperbole of this board with this guy is just that.

Malik Beasley may well be on 4 teams in 3 seasons, and could land with us. Does that make him a cancer?

Also make note, you stirred this pot... lol

Hmmmm, we know SAS has had some info with Durant before

FYI...the Kyrie trade still hasn't been finalized.

Stay tuned, this may get a 3rd team involved and grow into a bigger deal.

Really would hate that.

Would really make Boston the perennial favorite for the next several years.
