Willie is also .507 as a coach. He’s the only coach besides Paul Silas to have a .500 record or better in Hornets/Pelicans history.

Not if you followed the Hornets franchise move to New Orleans. Dave Cowens was the most successful coach by record. Allan Bristow also had a winning record in the Charlotte days. I know that most of ya'll aren't like myself and started following this team after the move but just wanted to point out the Cowens years were (sadly) the best in franchise history.

Yes, I know we technically gave the Charlotte Hornets their history stats back but I don't care.

He’s gotten better every season. Sit down and shut up, you have no idea what you’re talking about

There is no debate that Willie’s the best mute coach in the league. If he could only learn to talk and draw up plays on a chalkboard in crunch time we would be sure to one day in the near future win a consolation prize in late May!!!

He’s gotten this team to the playoffs 2 out of 3 years and a play in game in the other. He hasn’t finished worse than 10th. All while have Zion for like 15% of the time. Yall really have no clue.

The play-in is not the playoffs. Willie in his third year and you obviously have no clue lol.

Gotta move on from the guy whose record has improved every year!

What do you expect? They are on pace for one of the best Pels seasons ever. Willie not perfect but his roster damn sure ain’t. Hell we don’t even have an all star

This team is making the playoffs this year barring a complete collapse, again 2 out of 3 years in the playoffs.

We're 0.5 games up on the play in. It would not take a major collapse.

Theres a high likelihood they make the play-in and dont get out. Meaning they dont make playoffs.

Are you predicting the future now?

I’ve seen 60 games, and feel confident enough that they will make they will make the playoffs. They’ve won at a high enough rate to make it in, just keep winning at the same rate and they’ll be in.

We’re 0.5 game above the play-in. Whst the hell are you talking about? 0.5 game lead makes you that confident??!!

Problem is with a 0.5 game lead, this is not the case, if the teams around us win at a slightly higher rate.

The Sun, Lakers, and Kings all have top 10 remaining strength of schedule. They’re gonna drop some games below us.

I like Willie, he is a pretty good guy, but he is a bad coach. He is stubborn in his rotations and archaic style
of basketball. Borrego was brought in to implement a new offense. That has not come to fruition.

But the sad reality is that if we play 0.500 basketball the rest of the way we finish +10 in the win column and probably make the playoffs. Griff wont have the balls to fire him then. So we are destined to have another frustrating season again next year

MM said the other day there’s talk of Willie moving into the front office instead of getting fired, not sure how true that is but the FO has to be considering it especially with his rotations.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind seeing Willie get a promotion and JB take over as coach, with this roster we have we need an offensive minded HC

That is both absurd and a very Gayle Benson Pels thing to do.

Socialists do this shite all the time.

Im not saying Gayle holds similar values but this approach of hers to not fire her employees for incompetence but rather shift their responsibility and/or role screams Socialism.

Most other owners of sports teams are smart conservative business owners who will pull the plug when the plug needs to be pulled.

The Pelicans and even the Saints will never have that type of conservative ownership that makes good business decisions for the betterment of the org.

Instead, expect more of this bullshite in the future.

The thing is Willie has not really failed at his job, he is over .500 as a rookie head coach in his first 3 years, and the players love him. His only real failure is wanting to keep falling back on defensive lineups when teams start scoring rather than throwing out 4 shooters with Zion and saying “Bet”.

Giving him a promotion is not a bad thing, and allowing an offensive minded guy like JB take over this roster would be great IMO. We could outscore any team in the league if we shifted more to trying to outscore them rather than stopping them, especially on back to back nights like last night.

Would moving into the front office be considered a promotion in Willie Greens eyes?

This is typical Pelicans under him. Have a small run of games and people claim “see he is good” followed by the predictable string of losses heavily linked to bad coaching, bad rotation choices and simply put a team with no identity.

Willie is simply an awful coach and people are using a fluke run in his first year and a fluke start to last season to ignore reality.

Does it really matter? Either he likes it or not. Those are his choices...it's going to happen if it's going to happen. I'm all about the team, players when they are on the team, and this city.
