That's because it was such a one-sided trade, no one believed ATL would've really turned it down if we demanded top 5 protection on the pick. Our fans just spun that narrative to make themselves feel better about how we got fleeced by our former GM.

This is on the coach and his refusal to play the young guys. A FO cannot properly evaluate the roster of young players if the coach flat out refuses to play them because they make some minor mistakes.
The same coach that Griff wanted fired, but they ultimately fired Griff and kept the bum coach anyway.

Dumars will forever be overshadowed by the Darko pick. If Darko wasn’t such a lazy bum, he would be a HOFer right now. He had all the tools to be great.

If there’s a playoff mandate, then why are you trading very valuable assets for a rookie? Why not trade that pick for a proven player to help you achieve that mandate because 99% of the time rookies do not contribute to winning.

How does a serious team even let an article like this even get written with no rebuttal?
Even if this story is 100% fake/false (likely plenty of truth), a real organization should come out vehemenytly against it just to not look like complete clowns
He's a blogger. The team shouldn't be in the business of refuting everything a blogger writes about the team. I also read that as 50% fan fiction from the other teams' point of view. They weren't being named so they say some outlandish thing to a blogger without fear of having to answer for it. Same crap happened with the Zion/Griff piano story.
Having said all that, I don't need outside front office guys to tell me how bad this organization is right now. We can see it for ourselves. I have no idea what we are doing. Giving up a potential high lottery pick in the next year's draft is a cardinal sin in my book. Should never happen for a small market franchise with the injury history that we have.

points out that this puts a lot of pressure on a young team, and that maybe some of that pressure isn't the best thing for the long-term growth of our young players.
We have 3 young players, that aren't even supposed to be major contributors this season. The onus is on our core and especially on Zion to make the leap and perform. It's beyond time for them to put it together.
Dark times? I know most didn't watch a game after January, but this season was beyond awful. We needed massive changes. I don't think he's gone far enough, but applaud them doing something. I expect a winning record, at a minimum.

He’s has media credentials from the team and was at the draft to cover the Pelicans. This isn’t just a blogger, it’s a guy you gave media access to

Give me a decade of high level play and stability and I'll be a happy arse fan.
We haven’t come close to witnessing anything in Gayle’s years as owner to think a decade of high level play is possible.
On top of the consistently incompetent hires, anytime we get a productive player the Alpha francises start tampering and make inquiries like Missi yesterday. You and I both know Missi is gone before his rookie deal expires.
If we continue to be careless with our haul of picks we have nothing but 20 something win seasons in the future.

Team won’t be a consistent winner until Gayle is gone

No way to tell if the deal shakes out until you see how Queen shakes out. We're also assuming that the guy we'd take next year would 100% shake out.

Agree, Vegas offers a lifeline to failed cities like Oakland and NOLA to reenergize their fanbases and franchises.

Vegas is gonna get an expansion team, no teams are moving.
Even if/when Pelicans are sold, they won’t be moved

Griff was almost as bad. The one guy I really liked that drafted, DD, he undervalued and got bent over on when traded. I think he legit lost every single trade he made.
I strongly disagree. The haul he received for AD, considering he had minimal leverage, was great. The Jrue trade was also great. We're still collecting from that one. Even the Memphis trade that netted us JV and Trey turned out to be good.
Him losing every single trade is simply not true.

It’s just hilarious how everyone on here is dead set that pick will convey into a top 3 pick. We had a crazy run of injuries, one of our worst seasons, and yet we still finished 4th in lottery odds and picked 7th! The Pelicans will improve and the Bucks are not losing Giannis. But keep running around with yalls heads cut off about how “muh 1st overall pick”. The fricking Mavs won the lottery as a play in loser and Spurs came in 2nd, I’m not planning shite around the lottery. Gimme Queen, bunch of pussies in here.
