And had AD, EG, Jrue, and Ryno miss about 60+ games total. They were just as injured as this team.

Huge gentry hater.

Cousins - career year
Davis - career year
Holiday - career year
Moore - career year
Miller - career year

Can't deny guys it was gentry and Co that did that. They deserve a chance. Change gm before coach imho

Except for that time they were the one in 36-1 or whatever.

Even the Suns won 20 times against NBA teams this year.

They fired Dave Cowens shortly after he won Coach of the Year!

What does that have to do with Gentry?

NOTHING. Just like how what happened with Monty had nothing to do with What they will do with Gentry

Can we sit back and enjoy the rest of the season and let it play out. It is very and I mean very sickening to continue to see posts on rather Gentry or Dell should be fired.
I'm asking as kindly as I know how please, please stop this ignorant bullshite and let's support this team and enjoy the ride.

The offense is about 100x better than the Monty years. D remained respectable too. That's why Gentry is better.

This is a total myth, strung on by esoteric comments about Monty being a tough coach who demands defense and playing a slow pace.

It was exactly the opposite. Under Monty, we had great offensive ratings and horrid D ratings. Gentry it's been more balanced.

Now some of that is personnel. Solo hill vs EG/Ryno. But defense was always montys problem.

Monty's firing was a surprise, no doubt. He had some bad games during the regular season, but that shite show with the Dubs was special.

I definitely don't think Alvin is going anywhere.

just not very versatile

I think this is simply incorrect. Gentry definitely has short comings in game management and defensive strategy, but versatile is exactly what he has been to keep this team competitive and productive on the offensive end. When he got here he clearly wanted to run a space and pace small ball offense modeled after the offense he helped shape on the first Warriors championship team. Next thing you know we have Boogie, which is great, but Gentry had to pivot to create an offense that would allow the new personnel to be successful when many thought it would be tough for AD and Boogie to operate efficiently together on the floor. He was able to create an offense that had us set to be the first team ever with two players averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds per game. Then Boogie goes down, and we are forced to pivot yet again, and we have managed to maintain success when many expected us to collapse, all the while being a top 5 team in assists per game no matter what group of guys ran out on to the floor. I think this is clear evidence of versatility.

The mistake in that year was firing Monty instead of Demps. One had to go, and the Pelicans made the stupid choice.

They fired the coach that couldn't adjust to the random shite his GM was giving him to work with. Each player in and of themselves wasn't horrid in most cases, but there was no logic in how they fit together.

The result was Monty being saddled with a team that had almost no chance of gelling and no way to really succeed beyond what they did. Demp is and has always been the issue with the Pelicans organization and he should've been fired years ago. Maybe we'd have been in the playoffs for multiple years, and perhaps Monty's wife would still be alive, ironically.

Demps has put together a very good core group of players that I think people are underrating.

Gentry should keep his job for finally unleashing small ball center Anthony Marshon Davis Jr., getting him to nut up and embrace the role, while pivoting from Twin Towers to pace and space with AD at the helm.

Gentry has flaws, no doubt. But "not versatile" is often just a BS critique with no substance behind it, as you laid out

I think we can say Gentry is an averageish head coach, but he's also done a pretty good job this year.

They should give him an extension and a raise. But more along a Byron Scott level, where a buyout/firing isn't cost prohibitive over the next couple of years

It was a joke, but yes, Dave Cowens went 54-28 and was fired a little over a year later. Point is that no record makes a coach 'safe' in a vacuum. There are several other factors that go into the decision that are as or more important than the record. No record would have saved Monty because the team would have wanted to move to a faster pace regardless
