Proposal from Bleacher Report today: Pelicans get: Dejounte Murray, Bogdanovic Hawks get: Ingram, Dyson Daniels, 2025 1st round pick (most favorable of Lakers and Pels picks) I like the trade but would prefer not to give up the rights to Lakers pick. If Lebron goes elsewhere that will be a top 10 pick.
Ingram is a better player than Murray and at a more premier and versatile position. If you want to argue the contract sizes evens that out, it’s at least a discussion. But then 32 year old Bogdonovic for Dyson Daniels on a rookie deal and an unprotected 2025 strong draft first round pick that is the better of Lakers and Pels? Come on now. That could literally be Cooper Flagg. This should have been an immediate point and laugh at Bleacher Report proposal.

This thread is going to look hilarious when we extend BI
It's very possible that the best offer looks something like Brogdon, Robert Williams and #7.
But there is nothing funny about paying Ingram 40 million a year and pretending it is a good deal.

$40 million for Bi would be a great deal. It’s the $52 average that gets real dicey.

Good Lord!
40 million for an oft injured, pouty, one way player who can only manage 14 a game in the playoffs is insane.

I get people don't like Jalen, but people don't like BI either.
quote:A team like Miami or a San Antonio may be a good fit for a guy like him, where they can rein him in.
Jalen is erratic and still has a lot of bad habits, but he has crazy natural talent
New Orleans would be an awful place for him, as there doesn't seem to be a structure of ultimate accountability, and I'd guess he'd just continue doing the things he does that makes him not play to his talents.

BI’s playoff averages are 21.5, 5.5 and 5, and that’s while playing the last four on a pretty scary knee injury. And since coming to NO his per 36 has been 24.5, 5.8 and 5.5 over 5 seasons. I get that it’s fun to grab the pitch fork and focus all your disappointment at someone. But BI has been our best player for a good while now. I’m not sure why everyone has been so quick to forget that.
I also don’t love the idea of $208 million for someone focusing on the mid range. But $160 with the escalating cap? Yes, that is a very tolerable and strong deal. Something we should all be excited about.

What about framework deal for CJ/Trey for Trae if it happens? Will probably have to add salary.
Of all the dudes being discussed for trades, the only one I'd potentially add Trey on would be Donovan Mitchell, provided he extended...so basically, no dudes since that one isn't actually realistic for us.

LOL. He bruised his knee a month before the playoffs started.

Nevermind. I'm just going to bow out of this

bruised his knee?
he hyperextended his knee, and was lucky he didnt blow out every ligament in it.
Had it not been the playoffs, he probably would't have been playing on it yet.
No i do not want to give BI a 4/$208 max extension, but i would not be upset at all if he recieved a 4/$170 extension from us.

Fat Zion > BI.
Fit Zion shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as BI.
One is on the cusp of MVP level and the other is Kyle Kuzma-esque empty stats

Yeah part of the problem. BI takes forever to come back from injuries. And then when he does come back those injuries are always blamed for his poor play.
Meanwhile guys like Luka can barely walk at times and getting triple doubles in big time wins in the playoffs. No Im not saying BI is Luka- I am saying if you’re healthy enough to be cleared to play (which he was well before the playoffs); you need to perform.

Very true. BI is soft af. He’s a good player that doesn’t want to adjust his game when necessary. Just hoping we get decent value back for him.

I’m guessing y’all are misunderstanding me. There’s no question Zion is our best player. He should be our best player. But he essentially hasn’t played in three of the last five seasons. And for the majority of last season was woefully out of shape. Over the last five seasons, BI has been the guy the team has looked to. We would only have to go back a few months to find all the same posters here bashing Zion. And before that, CJ. Except shel who would never bash Cj.
I’m tired of the whiplash and irrational discussion. It’s not crazy to say BI has been a great player for us. It’s also not crazy to want better fit and/or to not max him out. All of these things can be true.
BI hyperextended his knee resulting in a bone bruise. That can take months to heal depending on the severity, and it certainly looked severe. Yet he did exactly what we all bash him for not doing and he rushed back in three weeks to help us get into the playoffs. He obviously wasn’t himself, and yet those four playoff games have formulated so many on this sites opinions. I’m hoping at some point we can have more nuanced discussions.

PS- at this point last year, the board bashed CJ for his end of year play, even though he was playing through two different hand injuries. He came back and was arguably the best three point shooter in the league this season. Let’s try to not be so extreme, though yes, I realize this is a message board.
