You don’t add 5 mil to your cap by cutting him, we’d just be adding the salary of Liddell to our current cap and we would be at 15 guaranteed players, so we wouldn’t really be adding more salary unless we made a trade where we took back more salary than sending out. But we’d still have 6ish mil to play with under the tax.

The Knicks are trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. The Knicks will unload $19M more in salary, clearing the way for cap space to try and sign free agent guard Jalen Brunson.

Wonder if it would be easier to get these guys from Detroit versus New York...? Or if this is going to expand to a third team.

Never seen anything like it. Knicks really treating Jalen Brunson like 25 year old Lebron.

Gonna be hilarious when Detroit is better than them next year.

Kinda ridiculous what the Knicks are doing for Brunson.

I saw someone tweeting earlier pointing out the CAA connections involved since Brunson's agent is with CAA. It still is ridiculous, how much extra in endorsements will he get being the PG on a mediocre Knicks team?

Hopefully Zion sees this and remembers what a dumpster fire the Knicks are

Noel and Graham to the Clips

Temple, Hayes, and Coffey to the Pistons

Kennard and Stewart to the Pels

Who says no?

That deal is gonna look terrible by year two, just like Randle, and it still doesn't make the Knicks a playoff team.

They were 6 games out of the PLAY IN.

Dallas can’t match it, Brunson is an UFA. And Brunson has his dad and other family connections to the Knicks. This is not some rumor, this is happening.

Detroit is eager to utilize center Nerlens Noel and guards Alec Burks next season. GM Troy Weaver had Noel on his team in Oklahoma City, and Burks is an ideal veteran to mentor the Pistons talented young group of guards.

Interesting

Yeah, it’s a weird deal but Dallas losing Brunson is a good thing for us.

MM suggested Hayes and Graham for Tim Hardaway, Jr.

Thoughts?

Who else are they trying to add?

Woj is talking about them potentially maxing Brunson, which is insane. We talk about the players going crazy, but there's absolutely no reason guys like Brunson or Miles Bridges should be getting max offers. Owners can't get out of their own way.

Brunson getting a max deal is pure vintage Knicks.

Brunson’s good but not that good. Zeke helped tank the Knicks for the long term back in the 2000s by severely overpaying role players and trading for guys of questionable value then giving them huge contracts.

That being said, Dallas can actually give Brunson more money than the Knicks can if they want to. Whether they actually do it is another matter.

I know a few of you picked the Mavs to finish top 2 or 3 in the west. Don’t think that’s happening now. Not sure who they can replace him with.
