Your point is being lost due to exaggeration, but Draymond likely never makes 20+ mill per season if he's drafted by any other team. He's an elite role player who is on a team where that is very important. If he was drafted by the Hornets, who knows what type of player he ends up being? Maybe he takes more of an offensive role and isn't nearly as effective (he isn't a very good offensive player), and if he's putting that much effort into the offensive side of the ball it's likely his defense would suffer. He's in an ideal situation for his skill set, and wouldn't be nearly as valuable for teams other than the Warriors (and maybe a couple others).

This is the correct point IMO.

The Hornets offseason has been a phenomenal tankjob for Victor
-Bridges done for the year at least with his issues
-Lamelo sprained his ankle in preseason and he has no timetable for return
-Last year's 1st Bouknight got a DUI last night
-Most importantly, hired their own retread whose win total in his last job went from 42 to 33 to 21.

Given Charlotte’s luck with the lottery, they will end up with the 3rd pick of a two talent draft.

Whenever they have tanked, balls bounce in a way to where they don’t get the generational talent.

There's no way they want to pay him to be on this team next year,

draymond has player option for next year.
they need to move him today. I suppose any time before trade deadline.
they arent throwing wiseman into the deal.
he's looking pretty good.
draymond and gsw '23 first for turner.

Deandre Hunter just got 4/95

I assume that would be Herb’s floor then.

The Portland Trail Blazers plan to sign former Florida State product John Butler on a two-way NBA contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . The 7-foot-1 big man spent summer league and preseason with the Pelicans and now lands a roster spot.

I just saw that the Blazers are currently at 150.6M in salary, with the tax line set at 150.7. So no doubt they plan to stay under.

I kind of brush them aside. But they really don't have a bad roster. If Lillard and Nurkic are healthy, it could be a pretty good team. They seem to be flying under the radar..

The rest of the west being so stacked is a major problem for them.

They have guaranteed a ton of money to players who may not even get them to a play in.

Very true. A couple of teams will have major injury problems (Blazers could be one of them). If they stay healthy, they could surprise some people.

The Lillard contract is bad IMO, no condoning that and it's a killer. I don't really see any other bad deals. Maybe Nurkic is an overpay. The Payton deal looks good after the deal Nance got (6th man deal). They haven't extended Grant yet. So it might change if he gets a huge deal.

My point is that they have gotten to the edge of the tax with a team that can’t easily compete, meaning that they have few ways to really improve.

They are effectively going all in on their current vets plus Sharpe, who has yet to show anything for various reasons.

That's even less likely that LeBron and Davis being healthy. The number of games that Nurk has played the last three seasons: 8, 37, 56.

I don't follow them that closely. But didn't they hold him out last year to tank? Once Lillard went down, they went full fire sale. I thought he might could have played late.

Your point still remains though and you are right. He is injury prone for sure..

Coming from out of nowhere, Jeff Van Gundy on the latest Zach Lowe podcast said Willy HernanGomez would be a great fit to start at C for the Lakers. Then he went on to say a lot of great things about Willy.

Obviously it was just a random thing that isn't happening but just talking it out...The issue with a guy like that is he just doesn't have much value to trade and get back anything of note, but he has great value as a locker room presence for us so there's nothing really there to do anything with.

Yeah Van Gundy has to understand that the odds of the Pels making any sort of trade with the Lakers is 0%

Regarding Willy/Billy going to be the starting C for the Lakers, I do not even think Willy would want this based on his locker presence and his love for his teammates here. He won't get as many minutes, yes. But he's on a winning team and enjoying himself, why go to the Lakers to get bitched at by LeBron and have to do all of the dirty work to then never get any praise?

The only reason to make a trade with the Lakers would be to kick a swap or the 24-25 pick deferral down the road.

They ain’t doing that over Willy.
