Flip side of that from Pelinka’s perspective is that it is hard to mortgage the future until 2029 when LeBron won’t commit past the end of the 22-23 season.
If LeBron had signed on the dotted line, the Lakers would have been willing to trade.

I miss KB. He would understand and explain everything that I’m not allowed to. Honestly he was the greatest Laker ever. He understood team over self. Meaning your rewards would come if you valued team goals over your own then everything would fall into place. All can reply.
From Jeanie Buss on twitter. Is there something going on behind the scenes in Laker land?

Kobe?

Kobe's career has this random nostalgia and lots of revisionist history these days. Kobe was a really bad teammate even late into his career. After running off Shaq (while never fully deferring to him while being the inferior player), he requested a trade, almost signed with the Clippers (to spite the Buss family), and quit in playoff games to protest.

I don't know what happened with that situation, it's questionable. But what isn't questionable is Kobe saying, Shaq does stuff like this all the time. That was fricked up.

Yeah I don’t understand that statement, but reading that feels like she’s taking a huge shot at Lebron.

I was limiting my post only to specifically reply to Jeanie's comments about how he's the best Laker evuh!

quote:I do believe that Jeannie Buss would rather not be in the lebron business any more. Mock if you must (and you must) but the lakers have been a wildly successful family business ever since her father bought the team, and it has always been “lakers first, players second” even with Bryant. She can’t be enjoying this bullshite with klutch having ceded culture and control to a clan of selfish grifters.

frick the lakers, but I get it

That's why their alleged pursuit of Kyrie is so strange.
They need to let Lebron and Westbrook expire and just do a hard reset and pray they can get FAs to not give the Pellies their future

It would be hilarious if she said frick it and blew up the team
Trade Lebron to Cleveland for Love and send AD to Chicago for Ball and Caruso

why is goatbrook still on the team?
why lebron not out there flapping his gums?
I think the lakers already have decided to get off this ride and take their medicine, or at least have decided to try
they can’t tank but they can rebuild around Davis. Strip it to the studs and do the work like every other team has done

The report that came out last night saying they hadn’t really made serious offers for Kyrie, which I took to mean no draft picks on the table, sounds like Buss is still not wanting to throw away more picks to fix LeBron’s mess.
I definitely think they should hold that line, get out of the LeBron business, and give us another top 10 pick.

the hilarious thing to me is this...teams would only trade for Westbrook for the benefit of the massive expiring contract. Well, the lakers already have the benefit.
They could have like 80MM dollars come off their cap sheet as soon as 2023. They’ve been paying luxury tax the past two years for nothing but drama and ridicule. They’ve lost the laker way.
Let’s see what happens

It makes no sense for the Lakers to include the 27 and 29 picks in a trade for Kyrie, because they aren’t even favorites if they pull that trade off. And they only have a commitment of LeBron and Kyrie for 2023. I feel like they are probably tired of being g held hostage by LeBron and co.
On the other side, it makes no sense for the Nets to make that trade without the Lakers including the picks. They owe Kyrie nothing, they shouldn’t trade him to his desired location without getting something back.

All the leaks about the Lakers pursing Kyrie are coming from LA, and it’s not necessarily purposeful. They have leaked like a sieve for years now as they have no internal control. Remember what the Kawhi FA was like, how much was constantly coming out about the Lakers? And yet Kawhi was never really that close to signing with them. This is them just trying to show the fan base that they are doing “something.”

Everyone needs to read this twice. I kept trying to wrap my head around how the Nets would be dumb enough to trade Kyrie for just Westbrook when there are 28 other teams with better assets than the Lakers rn

if it weren’t for the harden thing Irving would be perfect for the sixers. The insanity of the entire harden-simmons three way debacle has hamstrung two East contenders with nothing to show for it
