Question would you take prime tony Allen if he was available bc his offense was worse than smarts but he was elite defensively and thats who smart reminds me of except with better offense

Of course, but Tony Allen never made $13mil a year. And Smart’s defense isn’t on his level. I’d be all for Smart at half the price.

Allen is known a terrible shooter, but he was still 48% from the field for his career. Not saying he was a better offensive player than Smart, because Smart brings ALOT more to the table on that end. Just shows how bad Smart’s shooting stats have been compared to other “terrible shooters”.

See all I had to do was take a step back and let cooler heads break it down and illustrate my point. Ball vs Smart is very close, and many people would take Ball. He is 3 years younger, taller and longer. He makes about 4M less on a contract that is the same length as Smarts. They are both great defenders, who are not good shooters. But Ball is a much better passer/creator. Plus a dramatically better rebounder. The only negative is Ball's dad, who can be won over pretty easily. Also, the Pelicans FO loves Ball. They would love to have him. Put him next to Holiday and we have potentially one of the greatest defensive backcourts in NBA history..

Except Ball doesn't want to be in NOLA.

His dad just talks. You bring him in, show some love and he'll change his mind. If not, there are a ton of teams that would happily take him and give us some nice pieces back. Not going to happen, but he's not totally worthless or garbage like everybody keeps saying..

Can’t fix stupid and ignorant.

Lavar started talking about how he doesn’t want Lonzo in New Orleans having to go through snow on the way to practice.

Of all the cities in the league, NO has the least snowfall outside of LA or San Francisco.

That’s just scratching the surface with that family.

Based on what?

The new pels FO that will be looking at offers will likely have an entirely different view of him

Do you really want sources or are you making the point that a new FO wouldn't want him? If you want the sources, I hear it all the time on all the shows and it was in the LA Times and USA today (LINK ). If you just mean the new FO thing, I don't know what to tell you. Almost everybody loves the kid. His game has holes, but the talent is obvious. You don't think they would have any interest?

The LA Times doesn’t have Pels sources. Those reports were not from the Pels.

Color me skeptical of an LA based paper and sources considering that entire debacle but whatever

I think Lonzo is overrated and worth nowhere near the headache(and would never want to be in NOLA). How much better is he really than someone like Elfrid payton? Let's compare their first two seasons(we'll use per 36 to even it out):

Ball:
11.2 points
7.1 Ast
6.9 Reb
1.8 Steal
2.4 TOV
38% FG
31% 3 point(on 5 attempts a game)
43(!)% FTs

12.2 PER
3.6 WS

Payton:
11.8 points
7.8 Ast
4.7 Reb
1.8 Steal
43% FG
30% 3 Point
56.7% FT

13.9 PER
4.5 WS

Advanced defensive stats indicate they're comparable

Ball is one of the worst(if not the worst) shooters/scores in the entire NBA,Payton has never been very good scoring and Lonzo has youth on his side but is that really worth the gamble of someone who MIGHT be a moderate upgrade that will cost a ton more down the road and has 100x more baggage?

Well I hope you never go into recruiting. But whoever the FO people are, they are going to have to change the perception of the franchise and sell players on a new culture and atmosphere. Like it or not, fair or not, the Pelicans are not viewed as a good destination or a good team to play for. It has nothing to do with food or music or the culture..

Are you a closet Laker fan or something?

Take your purple and yellow glasses off Hoss!
The Lakers have no assists. Every player you talk about is a average to below average player. The Pelicans dance team including Jessie from the Saintsations could beat the Laker squad

He’s not a Lakers fan. He just likes going against the grain to create “discussion”
