Lots of smoke on the Boston deal. CP3 staying, Bledsoe not becoming a Pelican. How does it effect the offseason plans?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Seriously though, we may be on the verge of a serious shake up in the Western Conference. If the Boston deal and the Blake/Bledsoe for Dwight deal happens both the Clippers and Lakers may be reloading at a time we were hoping they'd start to fall apart.

Any deal that large has a ripple effect.

I don't think we were in play for Bledsoe anyway, though.

If the Lakers get Blake Griffin for basically letting their own FA walk, I guess I'll be kind of mad.

But the Lakers then become the Clippers pre-CP3. It equals a Griffin plus a past-their-prime core of failure.

McNamara got even more specific with the team source on Bledsoe over the weekend.

@DLSmooth82 Organization wasn't a big fan if his anyway. Had a coach tell us that they didn't view him as a starter

They are still getting a superstar-ish level player for nothing. They are the Lakers.

They'll eventually dump all of the other guys and turn terrible contracts into superstars. Its what they do.

No, it equals a young star at the center of a ton of 2014 cap space. Especially if the Spurs win and the Big 3 experiment fails, LeBron to LA may happen.

I get what you're saying. I really do. But I also view Griffin as an grossly overpaid guy if your goal is winning a title.

The Clip Show seems convinced they'll get someone to severely overpay for Bledsoe, be it Boston sending Doc and KG, Orlando sending Affalo, etc.

Whoever it is, I don't want it to be us because the amount of assets we'd have to flip for him, let alone the FAs we'd have to pass on to pay him, wouldn't be worth it.

This was posted by Larry Coon on a Lakers board so take it FWIW

quote:

Bledsoe/Griffin proposal was never made. This is just an agent working people. One guess as to which agent. Clippers are not talking to teams about Griffin, and wouldn't do a Griffin/Howard trade. Say what you want about whether you personally think they should, this is what the Clippers think.

Lakers don't want to S&T Howard -- this is true. Question is whether they'd relent if Howard was already on his way out of town. But we're not at that point yet. Case in point -- Cleveland wasn't going to help LBJ leave town. LBJ did his own deal with the Heat, and THEN the Cavs relented & worked out a S&T.

Wasn't MM the one pushing so hard for a trade for Bledsoe and how he was widely viewed as a future star?

Yes. He's also up to 40% on the odds of drafting Burke when he previously was adamant that there was a zero percent chance.
