That will be valuable to some team, just not the Pels with the redundancies that they have on the roster.
ironically the primary redundancy is the player we took at #1 overall in the same draft LOL. Couldn’t have planned that out any worse

Oh well

The problem is no coaching staff until Green had any creativity in utilizing his athleticism or properly motivate him. You could see it from a mile away just boxing him into a traditional C role was never going to work this early.

I think the team telling him to focus on perimeter skills this offseason says everything we need to know about the likelihood of Jaxson becoming the center we once hoped he could become. If Jaxson was going to learn to box out, he'd have done it by now.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. Seems to me he’s the obvious backup PF. I love the idea of him and Nance running the bench. The lineup with Kira, NAW, Hart, Zion, Hayes was so fun. I need to see that with Kira, Jose, Trey, Zion, Hayes at some point

I wouldn't say that's against top tier NBA talent.

Look, Jax has talent. No one really argues that, but he's not really shown it consistently and he's definitely not someone you feel comfortable giving $15+ million to. That's why I advocate to trade him now to get something of value that is a better fit. Graham, maybe is salvageable.

Right now I'd say Graham and Hayes are 9 and 10 in the rotation and in a year both will be making in the ball park of $12. I just don't see how either makes it past the trade deadline.

I agree with this for early in the season.

I think that'll come at the expense of minutes for Alvarado & Daniels.

I mean 12.5 isnt BAD but if Trey grows significantly this season, it may give us the push to low ball him regardless.

if jaxson would agree to a contract similar to bagley i'd prefer to keep him. i think we all agree that graham has to go

True but with Zion's extension kicking in, Herb's in 2 seasons is it...it all adds up, and if we're paying him $12.5mil, I'd just say we would absolutely need to know by this season that he's a 20+ minute guy on THIS team.

I never cared for the Hayes pick. I was always on the Garland or Hunter bandwagon. He has potential but will likely be over 25 if he ever reaches it. And for his cost, I’d prefer we secure Nance long term over him.

I liked Graham as a 2nd team guard but dont think anyone saw Jose coming. So I’m not opposed to moving on from him but not at the cost of an asset.

If Dyson Daniels is legit then both Kira and Graham could be out the door.

CJ/ Jose
BI/ DD
Herb/ Trey/ Naji
Zion/ Hayes
Val/ Nance/ Billy

Kira + Graham + Temple = 20.5 mil.

We can pay both Hayes/ Nance and sign 3 min contracts (like plowden) and that would cover us for a year or 2 until we know we are a tax team.

We would have a 10 man rotation and more upcoming picks to add depth 10-15.

Ingram and Jones can play 2-4. But they are both naturals 3s and are going to get worked by really good 2s over the course of the year. Hopefully Daniels can fill that gap. But is he done growing?

Will BI get worked by top wings? Sure, but Not On Herb. Herb looks like one of the top 5 stoppers in the league 1-3. He's handled PGs, SGs, and SFs at an elite level. His length and instinct allow him to match up well with nearly any perimeter player.

Can’t think of a 2 guard who would “work over” Herb. Also there’s not really a difference between shooting guards and small forwards anymore, they’re essentially the same.

Zach Lavine did twice I believe.

Not a knock on Herb though, any elite offensive player will go off from time to time regardless of who is guarding them.

Even if you can't stop everyone, being able to slow down elite scorers with single coverage can have a lot of value. I remember not long after Ariza got here watching him defend some top players, who still got their 20+, but they didn't get 30+, and you didn't have to send doubles all night letting someone else beat you with open 3s. It stood out because prior to Ariza that guy would go off for 30+ so you'd send doubles at him and have nobodies help beat you with open shots.

Containment can count as a win against elite scorers.

You keep saying that Herb is a 3, and you keep being wrong.

Herb is a guard. Even the team now officially lists him as a guard. Positions don't really matter in today's NBA, but our real starting lineup looks like:

PG: CJ
SG: Herb
SF: Ingram
PF: Zion
C: Jonas
