Terrence Jones could be the key piece to the Anderson-Asik TradePosted on 11/25/13 at 3:25 pm 216

Terrence Jones since he has taken over as starting PF for the Rockets has averaged 14ppg/9rpg, while shooting .538% for 3 point land. The guy has been on an absolute tear this month playing underneath Dwight. Say he keeps playing this alright, how would you like a T. Jones + Asik for Anderson trade? I know Ryan Anderson is our guy, and he strokes it like we all wish we could stroke a woman. But this would solve the Center problem big time. Plus we could reunite UK teammates and buddies (locker room chemistry anyone?). Jones is only 21 with a bright future ahead and only $1.5M contract at the moment.

Just want to say I rec'd we trade for him back in 2013. Wanted Jones+Asik for Anderson. Look how that turned out. We got both and now the Rox have Ryno. Could've saved everybody all the trouble these past two years. Looking forward to seeing the two UKies back together

his opinion is based on past performance and is as valid as any. i dont agree the signing moves the needle one way or another, but we will see

the fact of the matter is that jones went from starter to DNP on a good team that could have used him. he had an opportunity to make a big money career in a good market and whether it was injury or attitude or lack of development it didnt happen. he's now in the bargain bin taking what he can get

if he plays and if he sucks, he'll be released. i would have preferred another player but it is what it is

i dont, and thats OK

40 wins should be the goal, along with development of a defensive system that is NBA-worthy. if they can end the season without another injury catastrophe, extend holiday, dump evans, and get improvement from hield, hill & diallo, i'll be thrilled

next year sign another good player and then see what happens

I haven't seen anything about the contract. It is only assumed it is minimum or near minimum given our space.

league min guys that are gettable at this point are all going to be flawed in some way...either old and extremely limited (almons/gee/etc) or young with injury/attitude issues (jones/TRob). i would have preferred robinson if he would sign strictly for his rebounding

This isn't a Rockets thread but 50-54 wins, 5th seed at worst. No team other than GSW is winning a title for the next 3-4 years if they are healthy. Heck if they were healthy this past year I don't think they even play a game 6 in the postseason. And they got better.

will be very crowded in the middle in the west this year, not that its going to matter

houston will be a mid-seed, pels will be lucky to get in
just the way it is, hopefully not for long

The Pels have a deep roster full of high IQ, unselfish, high energy guys that are adequate on offense and can guard multiple positions. It may all fall apart if either Jrue or AD go down for long, but if those 2 are healthy I think the Pels can be surprisingly good in the regular season like Atlanta was a few years ago. Like Atlanta they probably lack the talent to make much noise in the playoffs, but if AD and Jrue can stay healthy, 2 pretty damn big IFs, I would not be surprised at a much better than .500 record.

As for your Rockets, I think it all rests on Harden. If he decides to play defense again like 2 years ago, they can be really good, if he doesn't, well Pels fans have seen what Ryno combined with poor perimeter defense looks like so you better hope D'Antoni plays Beverly a lot more than Gordon, and you'll need plenty of Ariza too.

I think you are really underestimating this roster. Honestly, I love it.

Big fan of what Demps/Ferry have done this offseason.

Its a great first step.

Jones is an unrestricted free agent, because the Rockets didn’t extend a qualifying offer — a surprising development on the talented 24-year-old. He has dealt with a spat of injuries, and — perhaps relatedly — his development has stagnated.

Still, he’s young and talented. His quickness gives him an offensive advantage, and a developing outside shot could give him an even bigger one. Jones’ inability to guard bigger players inside makes him a tough fit with Davis, who counts that among his rare weaknesses. But Davis won’t play 48 minutes, and he and Jones can jell against certain lineups.

This is a pure talent upgrade for New Orleans, though it signals more minutes for Solomon Hill at small forward when his strengths are most pronounced at power forward.

For Jones, returning to the market in a year must be appealing. There’s plenty of room for his stock to rise.

that gives a clue as to when jones might play
he shouldnt play much if any with davis

I really don't think it does anything of the sort. Unless Jones has a huge bounce back year, the numbers won't be shifted a whole lot.

A finishing 5 including Hield/Moore, Qpon, and Hill is so lacking in talent no amount of unselfishness or high IQ could make up for it. They aren't even league average level players. It's gonna be a tough year imo.

Morey said Gordon is the "super-sub" and is predciting a 6 man of they year award. Change of scenery should do wonders for both him and Anderson.

This is a lie. Thanks though. Pretty much everyone everywhere disagrees.
