Just trying to see how everyone feels about the rest of the season? Do we go all out to try and make the play in? Or are we better off tanking and getting a higher draft pick?

I'm on team play in. Feel free to upvote for play in and downvote for tank. Also feel free to downvote cause sometimes I read the politics board.

If Zion and BI is playing, we play to win. Zion's development is above all else.

We're not competing with the big boys this year and this draft class is amazing. Give Bledsoe all the minutes

Despite all the tanking talk, we have a pretty good chance to at 10 if we beat Atlanta tonight. .5 back from GSW and they play Milwaukee tonight

I’m tired of tanking!! Let’s get Zion and company some playoff experience.

"You play to win the game"

But I wouldn't be upset with losses if Kira, NAW, Hayes, etc are getting a butt load of minutes.

We'd have to really shite the bed to get to the 8th pick in the draft. I think just playing the season out we'll be more like 12. At that point, why not get yourself into the playoff picture, even if it's just one game.

While this is the year i'd like to get a nice draft pick b/c i don't think we will be a sub .500 team for a long time after this year, i'd much rather win.

theres a non zero chance lakers are in playin.

therefore im prayerful lakers are knocked out.

if pels can apply the coup de grace, all the better.

My vote is tank. Then again, it’s mostly because tanking memes are so much easier to make.

Someone explain to me what "tanking" entails.

We are going to tell a healthy Zion or BI not to play or to play poorly?

That aint gonna fly.

Playoffs. There are a lot of teams worst than us. We aren’t far out from the play in. We are .5 game back of the Warriors, and the Spurs are struggling right now. Like we have our franchise player, we have a number two. Why tank for a third best player, when you have two young All Star caliber players?

For example, a couple years ago the Nuggets were a borderline playoff team. They weren’t great but they had two young players in Jokic and Murray. They didn’t try to tank for a third young star, they played it out and lost out to the timberwolves in the last game of the season. They got the 14th pick in the draft and was able to draft Michael Porter Jr., who is now their third best player.

We should be past the point of tanking because we have our star. Good teams draft well and develop talent, they don’t need to tank to get other good players. And this is a good draft, but after Cunningham, Suggs, and Mobley, a lot of players are interchangeable. It comes down to your ability to scout.

If Zion and BI are banged up, be overly cautious with them coming back so that the backups get some play.

Backups get experience while we probably end up losing games we could have won if we rushed them back.

Completely agree, and why i'd rather win. I could care less if we are picking 12 or 16. We have more than enough picks to move up if we really wanted to, although that's not something i'd likely want to do.
Like you said, the Warriors and Spurs are struggling, and i doubt they put much effort to close the season out winning. Adn we play the Warriors 3 times.
There's really no reason for us to not make the play in game unless Zion/BI miss a bunch more games.

WIth Zion and BI, we're just a bit too good to full tank, and I certainly don't advocate sitting or shelfing a healthy Zion for the rest of the season at any point.

We can't complain too much about recent injuries as we were the healthiest team in the league before and still weren't very good, but the part that ticks me off the most is that it really did feel like the team was coming into its own, seems like everyone's roles were being defined, and we were looking pretty darn good on both sides of the ball for, what, the previous 5-8 games or so right before the injury bug got us. I would have loved to see how things played out and if that improvement was real and could be sustained.

Even if it's just NAW and Hart that will be out long term, that'll hurt us a good bit IMO. We weren't a deep team to begin with.

Playoffs, this draft is pretty deep, you can find a quality depth guy outside the lottery

I don’t consider that play-in to be a part of the playoffs and I don’t see us winning that little tournament
