Herb

It can't be more than 5-6, huh?

Talent-wise, no argument from me. But I think the issue would be how well do they fit their roles in that lineup and play together. Maybe great but we just don’t know yet.

I think when healthy, assuming Zion is as good as 2021 Zion, there really isnt a team our best 5 can't hang with.

That said, the teams that would probably be favorites until proven otherwise if healthy:

Clippers, Suns, Bucks, Nuggets, Warriors, maybe Celtics, 76er's, Heat, Nets

But like a team like The Raptors, I wouldn't put it past us capable of beating most of those in a 7 game series.

Dont think there has ever been the parity the league is currently enjoying

Phoenix's 5:
Cp3, Booker, bridges, Johnson, ayton

Solid defense and a lot of spacing and bl handling.

Milwaukee's 5:
Connaughton, holiday, Middleton, giannis, Lopez

Zion played 61 games last year with 8 win shares.

We are 32-31 since the putrid start. Zion adds 8 wins to that so 40-23. Assuming Zion misses the rest (fair assumption) and we go .500 in those, it puts us around 50-32. That’s probably 4th/5th in the west. There are a lot of good teams in the west.

Here's the tricky part I see. Ideally the Finishing Five would be

CJ
Herb
BI
Trey
Zion

But that means Zion needs to play small ball 5. From what I remember he did not look capable of filling that role last year. Hopefully he or Trey can grow into it, but we may be in a similar conundrum as we were with AD. Our PF needing to play center to unlock the best version of the Pels.

Too many question marks with their own injuries

And I am I in the minority but I think BI is a top 15-20 player in the league right now. Put Zion who presumably would ascend to top 10 status & we are talking about an elite squad.

Agreed, especially the last 2 seasons.

Maybe the CBA is having the effect as intended?

I mean we're the same way with Zion

Can't assume perfect health for us but not the other team

Not sure he's quite there yet. But he's definitely in the top 30 to 25 conversation at this point.

It's definitely made creating a big 3 more difficult, that said, if Kyrie wasn't anti-Vax that Nets team is probably rolling through the league

Can't say until Zion comes back, IF he does, that lets us see how open BI and CJ will get on jumpers. I personally think we are working CJ more than we should, but have to right now.

I like this team more and more moving forward. Almost everyone is locked up for 2 years so its important that we get a clear picture on both Zion and Hayes.

Dream outcome would be get lucky and draft in the top 3 just in case.

If healthy, that's a top notch lineup.

Zion - Top 10 level player
Ingram - 2nd best player all star level
CJ - Would he be the best 3rd best player on a team?
JVal - Same question as CJ but for 4th best player ona team?

That being said, teams with KD and Giannis and even Steph and maybe a couple of other teams I'd still put ahead of us by having that top 3 level player, that alone separates them IMO.

But we're probably an auto top 3 offense. The D would be an issue, and if we could just be average on D, we win 50 games.

If we are talking fully healthy, and I guess we are assuming things click with our lineup, I definitely put us over the Clippers, Heat and Nuggets. I lean towards putting us over the Celtics. I think the Suns, Bucks, 76ers and Nets would some really really good series.

If you can make it to the #3-4, you're pretty much good enough to beat any team this year in a 7 game series. i can easily see us clicking and getting a 3-4 seed. Or at least a little school boy can dream.

In terms of big 3/4's

Bucks and Middleton/Jrue could make a stronger case at this point, JV is better than Lopez though

Suns could make a case as well with CP, Booker, Ayton, and Bridges

Warriors(assuming they ever realize who their best three actually are) with Curry, Poole, Green, Klay/Wiggins as your 4th

All great examples. I'd say we're at least in the conversation, and that's impressive.

At that point, we will go as far as Zion can take us.

He'll move it...just gonna be after this season ends before they can truly concentrate on raising his overall offensive "game". Just trying to win games at the moment...and the best way is to stick with what he does best. Hard to learn "on the fly" when Herb's offensive game, is so very, very "stunted"...but the off-season should be interesting. Might not even recognize Herb's overall offensive game...by this time next year.

For sure

I'd say BI will be a big barometer as well.

It feels like he is right there in terms of putting all the pieces together in the same season, and if he does, that'll push our ceiling higher too imo.

Cause he took a major step forward as a facilitator, turned his mid range game into basically an automatic bucket, which is important in playoff basketball, has put in more effort defensively the second half, but his 3pt efficiency has fallen off, and his late game decision-making could still be improved upon. Get it all in one season and thats a top 15 player
