what went so wrong that we got rid of SVG after just 1 season?

He's an outdated a-hole that the players greatly disliked. There are rumors that Brandon Ingram absolutely hates him.

Well they'll max out on social points if they hire spoon. Hope it works out.

Is Gayle still paying gentry? Can't be happy paying all these coaches to not coach

Getting more and more worried that Weatherspoon is the hire. She honestly could kill it, no one knows. It’s just that it has so much potential for catastrophic failure, and even if it fails, Griff wont be penalized because of the “landmark in history” he can make by hiring a woman

A black female HC? Griffin is about to get a 4 month long blowjob from the media.
I'll take it if they slide us that number 1 pick for all of the woke coverage we would bring to the NBA. Commissioner Stern would've hooked us up, c'mon vampire follow in his footsteps

I always thought that that Griffin was forcing SVG to keep playing Bledsoe after it was obvious that NAW was better. Nope. SVG just loved Bledsoe.

So it was true.. Players like Ingram, Zion, Hart, Adams, etc. frickin hated watch Bledsoe give 10% effort and then give press conferences saying "I'm just going thru the motions out there"

and instead of benching his dumb arse, SVG kept feeding him minutes instead of giving development time to NAW

Yeah, this is why I can see Griffin having a hard on to do this.

You don't hire a coach internally because the players like them.

You hire them because you believe this coach has a vision and is the best coach to lead a team deep in the playoffs. That they can connect with players is a MAJOR aspect, but just one aspect.

Yahoo just reported that Calipari is “interested in jumping back in” to the NBA

They probably would've gotten along better if he wasn't so shite on defense

Calipari is a great recruiter but I've never thought as an Xs and Os guy he was anything worth much.

Not sure he'd be interested in this job either.

Calipari wants personnel power this time doesn't he? That doesn't work with Griff

I bet he stays. That rumor comes out every year which tells me that he’s asking for an absolutely ridiculous amount of money

Less talented is the wrong question. Team building is chemistry, not algebra. Your best creator is a power forward. Your best defender can't beat a pick and roll. Your best spacer is one of your more inconsistent shooters. I think they can make some marginal roster changes talent wise and get much better results with better fit and guys that plug some glaring holes.

Stan was just part of the problem, but once he lost the players, you cannot just keep him around because you made a mistake. It was a gamble and failed miserably.

I am actually super pleased that Griff and Gayle were able to recognize the mistake and ignore the sunk costs and media heat for firing Stan.

That's not surprising, if the goal is to be a top defense then Ingram is the weak link. I'm sure Ingram feels that's pretty unfair to him.

That's also why this needs to be more than a coaching change. Griff needs to accept who his stars are and who this team is. I'll be pissed if Minnesota takes a step up this year embracing their true nature with Finch as coach.

yes

resources are not the problem.
I’m struggling to identify a griffin decision (zion was not a decision) that has worked out better than the available alternatives have elsewhere

The problem with hiring Spoon is this imo:

She's tough to fire. Say she comes in and is in completely over her head. Tough shite. You're stuck for at least three seasons probably and bye bye Zion.

No way you can fire a black female without giving her a couple of years minimum.

It’s a shock if it’s not Weatherspoon. Griffin knows how to play the media and he’d have a job for life at ESPN

Which is why I can see Griffin liking it as well. It gives him 3 more seasons to frick up.

She essentially failed at her alma mater la tech school. Why is she such a good thing at this level?
