Weird to trade with someone in our way of the title I guess. Unless they were to take Graham, which would not make sense for them being that they are trying to clear space for Ayton, I don’t see how this works for us.

Yeah we know. It’s been talked about extensively in two other threads.

We aren’t trading 8 for Cam Johnson. There would be significantly more involved on the Suns side for us to even consider it.

My go-to would be having a three way with Isla Fisher and Christina Hendricks while my wife films it.

Still about as likely.

It’s gotta be Deandre Ayton or Mikal Bridges and supposedly they are doing this for space to resign Ayton, so it has to be Mikal Bridges.

Is giving up 8 and getting Graham worth Mikal Bridges? I would hope we get some kind of pick as well.

It’s buried in other discussion threads. No big deal.

Jennifer Connelly is also an acceptable answer but redheads are preferable.

Define "significantly". He made big strides last year on his 3 pt game. %42 from deep on 6 per game. I love that. What I dont like is that he would be on the last year of his rookie contract so then you're having to decide if he's worth paying, because if he shoots it like he did last year, he's getting a raise.

Mikal is good, but if the Suns are doing this, it’s probably because Sharpe is there at 8 and he’s their future CP3 replacement. Obviously he’s not point god, but from a pure talent perspective of a guy that can create his own shot, I could see them being interested in that after what happened to them in the Mavs series.

The Suns were absolutely shut down when cp3 and Booker were swarmed and guys like Mikal were asked to win the game for them.

That’s why I think they would be willing to do this. And that’s why I’m willing to ask if Mikal is worth pick 8 and dumping Graham.l without getting anything else back.

Yeah, he’s a super role player, but he’s not a star. Which begs the question, Should we swing for the fences for a star in Sharpe or draft a more cost controlled role player at 8 with Mikal type upside at 8?

You could argue Mikal fits our team better than the Suns considering we have Zion, Ingram, and CJ as creators.

Whereas the Suns only have Booker and CP3 (half the time when he’s feeling spry).

He’s on an expiring contract, will get paid large, and the Suns have no picks and need the deal more than we do.

Multiple future unprotected picks for me. At least 2.

Suns unprotected future picks could be pretty good, since they rely so heavily on CP78

Per ESPN's Jonathan Givony, the Suns are among the teams interested in acquiring the No. 8 pick from the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2022 NBA draft and could include "a player like Cameron Johnson in order to free up salary-cap flexibility" to re-sign Ayton.

this really doesn't make any sense, unless they are talking about salary cap flexibility for the next year.

The #8 pick is going to have a salary of about $5.2M this year.
Cam Johnson makes $5.9M this year.

and think about this for a second. the 11th pick in the 2019 NBA draft is being talked about traded for the #8 pick in this years draft.
Our pick from that draft at #8 is now worth about 2 2nds.
We could have just selected Cam from the get go, or, we could have just selected all-star Garland from the get go, but you konw, trading down in the draft works out so often for the team trading down.

This is about moving Cam before he gets an extension. They can’t pay Ayton the max then pay Cam $20m+ next offseason. Even if Sarver wasn’t squeezing nickels until the Buffalo farts.

Is it though?
they could easily just let Saric go and that would make up the difference pretty much. And Cam isn't getting $20M+.
